Walt Disney dreamed for decades about opening the ultimate entertainment venue, but it wasn’t until the early 1950s that his handpicked team began to bring his vision to life. Together, artists, architects, and engineers transformed a dusty tract of orange groves about an hour south of Los Angeles into one of the world’s most beloved destinations . Today, there are Disney resorts from Paris to Shanghai, but the original Disneyland in Anaheim, California , which has been visited by more than 800 million people to-date, remains one of America’s most popular attractions . From the day it opened on July 17, 1955, Disneyland brought history and fairy tales to life, the future into the present, and exciting cultures and galaxies unknown to our imaginations. This intruiging visual history draws on Disney’s vast historical collections, private archives, and the golden age of photojournalism to provide unique access to the concept, development, launch, and enjoyment of this sun-drenched oasis of fun and fantasy. Disneyland documents Walt’s earliest inspirations and ideas, the park’s extraordinary feats of design and engineering , and each of its immersive “lands” from Main Street, U.S.A., to Tomorrowland. It is a treasure trove of original Disney documentation and expertise, with award-winning writer Chris Nichols drawing on his extensive knowledge of both Disneyland and Southern California history to reveal the fascinating tale of “the happiest place on Earth.” Copyright © 2024 Disney Enterprises, Inc. Packed with nostalgic photos from 50's. Very small size.
POSITIVE: Taschen publisher is known for high end, well-produced books, and this is that. I LIKE the photos a LOT. I was born in 1951, and went to Disneyland the year it opened, so this book brings back my childhood. I also bought the softcover "Walt's Disneyland: A Walk in the Park with Walt Disney" by Marcy Smothers, and of the two I prefer this one by Chris and Carlene Nichols, because this book by the Nichols has more intimate, and better selected photos of Walt Disney, and more of Disneyland itself. The Smothers book is full of "PR moments" ("say CHEESE!), though I would not give up my Smothers book, because some photos in that one are endearing, like Walt in a "bobsled" car as the Matterhorn ride is starting. Matterhorn was the first "really fast" ride. To compensate for the very small-sized Nichols book, the margins are either absent or 3/16 inch (less than 1/4"). I would have liked this better as a coffee table book, & I was shocked to see the size because I did not scroll far enough right to see the size before I ordered. The cost seemed what I would expect to pay for a full-sized book. Note that description says size is 5.51" x 0.63" x 7.68". The height is about the length of my palm and fingers, and the width not much wider than my palm and closed fingers.

Joli petit livre qui ravira les fans de Disneyland
Un joli petit livre en anglais pour tous les fans de Disneyland et des artistes géniaux qui ont conçu les attractions cultes du parc sous l'impulsion du grand Walt.
