They are not, and this is my misunderstanding as no where in the description does it say the tip is softer than the normal one. I assumed without asking.So if you're like me looking for a softer nib for drawing, this isn't it. BUT, can't complain at the price of these, for the quantity (I haven't used them though so I can't comment on the durability).
