HARDCORE...WITH A TOUCH OF THE PROGRESSIVE
Not Suicidal's very best, and not their heaviest, but this is certainly the most mature and well produced. There's a fair deal of experimentation with great acoustic work incl flamenco style riffs & cello (way before Apocalyptica!) on my favorite track, Monopoly On Sorrow and cool vocal work and production FX throughout.I actually think that there'a very progressive feel to this, and maybe even a Dream Theatre fan might appreciate it?Rob Trujillo, now of Metallica, contributes some excellent, in your face bass work, mixing funk, punk and metal lines to perfection. A great, clanky tone that works well with Rocky George's melodic and fluid guitar work. Even Mike Muir seems to have had extra singing lessons here! This, along with 1990's Lights, Camera, Revolution was probably the peak before a sharp downturn with the dissapointing Suicidal For Life...
