great kit
I put this on a 2004 Jeep Wrangler during a replacement of the throwout bearing. I also replaced the flywheel with the Luk flywheel. This kit comes with the pilot bearing and throwout bearing, but I had ordered the Timlin pilot and National Bearing throwout based on other forum comments and reviews. However, the National Bearing was defective, and the Timlin pilot bearing actually looked inferior to the Luk kit part (teeth were shorter on the inside). I went with all kit parts. That was 1000 miles ago, and I have had zero issues with the Luk clutch kit parts. Many people seemed concerned about the plastic on the kit's throwout bearing - from my perspective 1) I don't think Luk would sell an awesome clutch and pair it with junky accessories, 2) it's a good plastic composite that might actually be preferable to metal (cause it rides on metal, this might be smoother), and 3) it didn't feel cheap or low-quality, it's just not metal. Time will tell if I regret the decision, but for what it's worth I saved $60 bucks or so using the kit parts and I'm not disappointed. As far as the replacement, all the parts fit perfect. Don't forget the slide hammer & puller for the pilot bearing, and you might want to get the fork pin (it's a 5 dollar Mopar part) and swap it while you're in there. Also...I'm pretty sure the dust on the clutch is asbestos, so wipe it up with a damp rag when you see it. And...I'm pretty sure the '04 Wranglers don't have the AX-15 transmission (mine didn't) - so don't freak out when your shifter doesn't rotate and pop out like most of the videos. 4 x 8mm bolts are holding it on from the top - follow your gut and just pop it out (zip tie a plastic bag around it to keep it clean).

Great Product.
This clutch kit fixed my issue of a noisy worn out throw out bearing. The original clutch and bearing worked great for 240,000 miles, but it was time to replace. The gear shifting became smooth like a new Jeep after installation.

Great clutch kit for my 2003 TJ Wrangler Rubicon with NV3550 5 speed
Install went smoothly. This kit includes a new pilot bearing (which you will have to use a slide removal tool to get the old one out of the engine - its where the input shaft from the tranny docks into), throw-out bearing (which slides on the bearing retainer on your transmission), pressure plate and clutch disc, and the tool to align the clutch disk when bolting the pressure plate on (to ensure fingers are even and disc is centred to pilot bearing). My input shaft bearing retainer exploded on the trails and I had to drive home in 2nd and 3rd gear. I replaced the input shaft bearing retainer and installed a new oil seal behind it too. I used Permatex Ultimate Copper for the input shaft bearing retainer. While I was in there I decided to install this clutch kit, I have 220,000 KMs and it was still on the OEM clutch !!! The OEM uses LuK too, so this kit is the real deal. I used a dab of synthetic grease on the throw-out bearing pivot point on the fork, and where it slides on the bearing retainer, and the ball the fork pivots on. The only tricky part was docking and undocking the bell housing from the engine, and the top two reverse E12 TORX sockets that hold on various brackets. Make sure everything is clear (hoses, cables etc) when redocking the bellhousing onto the engine or you will pinch stuff. I highly recommend a transmission jack adapter or something similar to get the transmission and transfer case back and down, preferably you have a smooth surface to roll it on, it will help with redocking. I bought mine at harbor freight for $60. Hope this helps.

Worth it. Just buy the different bearing with it.
Great clutch for the 4.0 Unfortunately it came it didn't come with the all metal throwout bearing like the picture shows, so I was a little irritated. But I ordered the National 614093 throwout bearing which is an all steel bearing. But all in all still is a great oem replacement clutch for on or off road that'll last for years.

Well engineered Clutch kit for Jeep Wrangler
My 2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has been making a bad noise for a while now when I start out or when I was sitting with the motor on and transmission in neutral. I had researched the problem on the net and learned that it is common. I had heard of LUK clutches before so this is the brand I wanted. I noticed that some of the posts in Jeep forums were about what people called a "Luk plastic throw out bearing". I found out as much as I could but still was not comfortable about installing one if it was not going to last. My brother in law is a big time aircraft engineer and I value his opinion so I asked him about it. He said that his research indicated that the throw out bearing was made of a composite material and was designed to help eliminate the problem of Jeep Wrangler throw out bearings not lasting. This was good enough for me so I purchased this one. Everything needed was in the kit and installing was relatively easy. My old throw out bearing was not the problem it was the input shaft bearing and one is included in the kit. Before I started the project I knew that the clutch and pressure plate were probably still good but the price of this clutch kit is low enough to go ahead and replace everything while I had the Jeep tore down. Everything went well and I'm satisfied with the results.

Luk clutch kit w/all metal throwout bearing
I bought this Luk clutch kit #05-065 for $110 thinking i would have to buy another throwout & pilot bearing & toss the one's that come with the kit. As many other have said they have done because this kit comes with the cheap plastic throwout bearing & cheap pilot bearing. I am Happy to say that my kit came with a quality, full metal throwout bearing and the pilot bearing is quality, as well as the rest of the kit. Pilot bearing actually has usa stamped on it. I believe all other parts are made in mexico. I have not installed yet. Bought new flywheel too. I will update later if there are any issues or just to tell how well it preforms after installation.

Perfect clutch for a jeep tj.
I only used the pressure plate, clutch disk and alignment tool from this kit. Due to other reports of the throw out bearing and pilot bearing not lasting, I chose those components separately. That said, I saw no real visible flaws with the supplied bearings and they may have failed for others due to any number reasons. The installed parts work perfectly restoring smooth and reliable operation that is like night and day from the mess they replaced. Luk offers excellent parts at very reasonable prices and I would buy their parts again without a second thought.

๐ ATTENTION 2.5L 4-CYL OWNERS: Does NOT Fit & No Free Returns!
* The Problem: This LuK 05-065 kit is only for the 4.0L 6-Cylinder engine. It is a 10-3/8" clutch that is physically too large to fit a 2.5L 4-Cylinder Wrangler. * The Trap: The seller completely omitted engine size restrictions from the title and full description. This missing data tricks Amazon into showing a false green "This Fits" alert. * The Return Scam: The seller approves the refund but refuses to provide a prepaid return label. This assembly is incredibly heavy, and they expect you to pay high shipping fees out of pocket to fix their listing mistake DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER!!!!

Works as it should! 03 4.0L TJ
Put this in my 2003 4.0 TJ whoโs original clutch was starting to slip at 170k. Everything fit as it should, no issues on install. I opted to get the crown automotive Metal TOB as the one that came with this kit was plastic. First drive clutch was very smooth, almost too smooth for my liking, it felt like there was barely any pressure needed to push the clutch pedal in compared to the old clutch. After 1000kms Iโm used to it now, still working well! Would have given it 5 stars if it came with a metal TOB

Perfect clutch for a jeep
Luk makes the original clutch that comes in jeep tjs, so it was only sensible to replace the original with another Luk. Hopefully this one will last 300,000 km like the original clutch did.
