The latch itself is metal compared to the plastic on the OEM one. I suspect the actuator will not last as long, but I’m more okay with replacing this thing once every 2 years at its current price point. I’ll update if/when the item fails (posting this 3/2026). I’ve posted a video of the problem before replacing the latch, should it be helpful in other’s diagnosis. Came with the required tools (just an M8 and a T20). Vehicle: 2016 Golf R ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect fit. Easy install *by A***S on 15 September 2025* This was a perfect fit and easy install for a 2009 Jetta Sportwagen. I liked that the took came with it, which meant I didn't have to buy anything else. No instructions come with the item but it's as easy as unbolting the old one and then bolting this one in it's place, after you pull off the door trim, which is also fairly easy. Videos online will show you how it's done. Even if you don't think you are mechanically inclined, try replacing this part yourself.
