I popped it apart and found that some of the floss had been wound around the stem holding the spool rather than the spool itself. I unwound it from the stem, snapped it back together, and it works perfectly. Just a little manufacturing defect and if you get an item with this issue it is easily resolved. Aside from that, this product does a great job grabbing and removing plaque. All the tiny threads help it grab up the plaque, whereas some floss is so smooth it just slides through plaque without removing much of it. This is also very easy to get through teeth, even with tight spacing. I have crowded bottom teeth and do have one or two spots that are especially tightly spaced and it takes a bit more pressure to get it down into the space between the teeth. It's comfortable on my gums as well. This floss does a great job and I will continue purchasing it.
