I was asked by Tayogo to review this product. This is a departure from their regular bone conduction headsets. This one is designed for swimming and use with or without a coupled music player, such as a smartphone. It’s sealed all around except for three control buttons. One of the more vulnerable spots on a headset like this is the charging port. Most of Tayogo’s headsets use a micro-USB or USB-C port. The W22 uses a proprietary magnetic port with a supplied heavy duty braided-sheath cable. The cable terminates in a USB-A male plug and is supplied with a USB-C adapter, as USB-C is quickly becoming an industry standard. The headset has 32 MB of internal storage for music or other audio content. The same cable is used to transfer audio files from a PC to the headset. Good News: the magnetic connector is less likely to fail or be jerked out catastrophically. Bad News: lose the cable, and you have no way of charging the headset. Music loaded into the W22’s memory will play in random order or in the order the sound files were loaded. When paired with an iPhone, a long press of the multi-function button will summon Siri, which can then command playing of specific songs or playlists. The W22 also functions well as a phone headset, with good audio in and out. Supplied with the headset is a pair of ear valves and a short (4+ inch—the pen in the photo is only for scale and not part of the package) silicon cord. No instructions are supplied on how to use these with the headset. The W22 paired with my iPhone 14 via Bluetooth almost instantly. Playback of music was clear and sufficiently loud. Overall, this is an excellent choice for those needing a rugged, waterproof bone conduction headset with internal memory capacity.

This is my second bone conduction headphones from Tayogo. I have previously use the S3 model for approximately 4 years. The W22 model has several advantages over the S3; larger memory, longer battery life and they are completely waterproof. It also has larger buttons so it's much easier to advance to the next song, which I do frequently. The magnetic charging is nice, no more fiddling with the little rubber door that covers the charging port. Most importantly I find the sound quality to be good. I can hear the music clearly and I don't have to adjust the volume to be really loud. I use the headphones primarily for biking and like being able to hear traffic and other surrounding sounds. At 42 grams they are light and comfortable even with a bike helmet and glasses on. The headphones arrived nicely packaged. The package contains headphones, nice charging cable, usb A to C adapter, leash(?), ear plugs, and a manual. Loading mp3s from my computer was as easy as copy, paste. I put around 300 mp3s on it and they only used up 1.5 GB, leaving a huge amount of space for more music. They came fully charged so I haven't tested charging them yet. The manual says a full charge takes 1-1.5 hours. The bluetooth connection seems to be stable and the microphone is clear. There are voice prompts that tell you each time you press a button what the effect was. So far these have been good bone conduction headphones with no issues.

FIT (3.5/5). In general, this fits okay and rests on my head/ears without any undue pressure or discomfort. For general, above-ground use, I have no issues. When swimming, though, I have a hard time keeping these in place reliably. Regular swimming is okay for the most part, but sudden moves (pushing off) or turns pull these right off. I really would have liked some way to secure it better to my head. That said, I do appreciate its flexibility, so when I pull them on and off, or bump it wrong, I don't worry about the band breaking. COMFORT (4.5/5). These are very lightweight! Between that and the silicone covering, these are very comfortable to wear (minus the falling off while swimming). Since it doesn't go *in* my ear, I don't have to worry about getting it to sit just right either. SOUND (4/5). Listening to these does take a little getting used to if you haven't worn bone-conduction headphones before, but it's not bad. I assumed you couldn't hear the music unless it was in contact with you, but you can still hear it a little even when it's off your head. There is a distinct difference in sound between out of water ("dry-use") and underwater ("wet-use"). Dry-use sounds a lot like regular headphones or earbuds pulled away from your ears (though these are clearer). For wet-use, the sound is noticeably louder (but not painfully so). The bass is loud, but muddy and muffled. The vocals are clear, and clearer than out of water. Overall, the sound quality is very good. I was actually able to keep the volume on the mid to lower level (usually I'm on the slightly higher end). In general, I think I prefer normal earbuds for dry-use, though the one advantage these have over earbuds is the ability to hear your surroundings. So go for these if you want to be aware of your surroundings; go with earbuds if you want to drown them out. BLUETOOTH (4.5/5). I love that these have both built-in mp3 and bluetooth capabilities! That flexibility is a huge plus for me. The bluetooth connection is quick and easy and works well. It stinks that you can't use the bluetooth feature in the water. But that's a limitation on Bluetooth itself - no device can get around that. Maybe someday they'll invent a communication technology that can penetrate water... My only, minor, complaint is that this defaults to bluetooth mode. For a device that operates mainly in water, it would have been nice to default to mp3 mode. QUALITY/BUILD (4.5/5). From what I can tell, this is built well with quality materials. It holds up well to clumsy man-handling, and the controls are mostly easy to use (once you can find the right buttons!). I do like that the buttons are raised, with the volume/navigation buttons grouped together, separate from the power/mode button. That makes it easier to find the right buttons by feel. I love that this is completely enclosed to prevent any water intrusion. My only concern is how well the silicone will hold up over time in the heat and chlorine. I'll be sure to update if I notice any degradation. USAGE (5/5). Since each button has several functions, it can take a little getting used to, to make sure you're using it properly. Once you've worked with it some, it becomes a little more intuitive. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by the included voice prompts that tell you what function you selected. I was expecting to have to guess when it was in mp3 vs bluetooth mode, or when I was in Shuffle vs Order mode. It's a seemingly small thing, but a big deal for me. It really elevates the user experience. So a big Thank You to the developers - this is a very much appreciated feature! OTHER (5/5). > CABLE (5/5). The magnetic cable is a brilliant and necessary tool for being able to charge AND connect to a computer(!), while keeping the headphones watertight. It connects easily and works great! > EAR PLUGS (untested). I don't typically use ear plugs when swimming, so can't fully evaluate them. I did have trouble getting them to stay in when doing a quick dry-use test. Don't know if they'll work differently in water. I do appreciate the L/R indicators, as well as the strap that connects them. > USB to USB-C ADAPTER (5/5). A very thoughtful addition. Great for faster transfer times, as well as connecting to devices that only have a USB-C port available. > BATTERY (4.5/5). These took a little longer than expected to charge (mine took closer to 2 hours), but so far the battery life seems good. I've used these intermittently over the last 5-6 weeks on a single charge. One thing I love is it shows the headphones' battery life on my phone when connected via bluetooth! > MEMORY (5/5). Excellent! 32GB is able to hold quite a lot of music (or audiobooks)! > PHONE/MIC (untested). I haven't tested the phone or microphone capabilities yet. Hopefully someone else can comment. > INSTRUCTIONS (5/5). The instructions are important and very much appreciated. They're also clear and easy to follow, and cover everything you need to know. Bottom line: The biggest thing I would change (and the reason I took off a star) is the adjustability and being able to secure these better to my head while swimming. I don't want to worry about these coming off. That said, I am very happy with my purchase - best solution so far to be able to listen to music while swimming! I would definitely recommend.

I've been doing open swimming across lake Nokomis here in Minneapolis and thought it would be nice to listen to something while I'm out there in the middle of the lake. I have a SHOKZ headset that I've used for biking, but since it isn't meant for water, I needed something else. I decided to give these a shot since they're significantly less expensive than the SHOKZ. In short, I am very happy with these. My main concern was the quality and volume of the sound. I do use silicon ear plugs which actually improves the overall sound quality. My hearing isn't what it used to be (I'm in my 50s) but I can still hear these well enough to listen to podcasts while I'm out there. I don't even need it on full volume. Loading it up with mp3 files doesn't bother me a bit. I've also started using these out of the water and they work just as well that way. There are probably a few things I would change, but these don't affect my current satisfaction with the product. I would make the buttons a little larger and more obvious to the touch. I would also change some of the defaults. When it powers up, it always starts in bluetooth mode. I guess it makes more sense to me that it would start in whatever mode you had it on last. The capacity is probably too large given that there's not much in the way of managing playback. It's either in linear (one file after the next in order of the create date on the file) or shuffle playback mode with two controls (prev/next) and no display. It would be nice to select a playlist, but that would require some sort of display. I've worn them on about 6 swims so far and the only issue I had was that when I reached the last song in a directory, it stopped playing and pressing fwd only produced a message saying that I'd reached the end of the files. Now, I think the instructions said to not use any sort of directory structure on the device, but my music existed that way on my PC so I just copied it over and left the structure as is. Besides that one issue, it seemed to handle directories ok.

The sound quality is good but the construction is poor, they broke after less than 1 year

First impression: Tayogo has eliminated the typical failure points in all previous designs. My wife swims several times each week, and loves to have her music selection to keep here tempo up. We bought the first Tayogo MP3 player about 10 years ago. They get rough use, and even with appropriate warnings, things fail after a year or so. We looked at other similar players meant for wear while swimming, and Tayogo was always considered to be the easiest & most comfortable for her to wear. Each time we purchased a new one, it was always an improvement. More memory, better battery life etc. The last one we bought was the first with mag-safe like connection, that eliminated the necessity to remove the USB module for charging or re-programing. That eliminated a common failure point. This new one eliminates the fine wires for the in-the ear style earphone (another failure point), and uses bone conduction instead. The new design looks to be very robust. No special handling required. It must be understood that bone conduction will not give you the same sound quality that you might expect from noise-cancelling ear buds, BUT you retain the ability to be aware of what’s going on around you. VERY important running/walking/cycling or anywhere you need to hear what’s going on around you to stay safe. Tayogo does include separate ear-plugs which can be worn with the headset. When used, the result gets very close to ear-bud quality sound, but like ear-buds, cuts out the ambient sounds around you. Probably OK in the pool. This new version also offers some very useful & valuable functionality. The addition of bluetooth connectivity offers a lot more options to media to listen to, as well as the ability to receive & make calls via the bluetooth connected device. The other cool thing is builtin voice prompts that let you know when the headset is turned on or off, what mode it is in, and even when max volume level is reached. Very handy when you are operating the control buttons by feel & cannot see what you are doing. Wife has not actually tried them in the pool yet. Expecting good review. My wife’s only criticism is: Why only in black?

Tayogo is known for their bone conduction headsets and this one doesn't disappoint. I have been using this for the last two days and I works great! As a former truck driver I look for headsets the allow me to listen to music and audiobooks while I'm driving down the road. This one is very loud and able to overcome the road noise. The battery life is amazing! I've had it on for two days and it is reporting 50% battery level left! My ears don't hurt and it rests well on them. One thing is that if you are looking for the same audio as ear covering headphones you will be disappointed as these are not able to do that without putting in earplugs then they sound fantastic! I got them because I work in rain and snow and needed a waterproof headset and needed to have both ears open to comply with laws requiring drivers to not wear headphones. I haven't been able to check noise canceling on calls while driving as I'm a former truck driver. The Mp3 section can be reached by a double tap of the power button and has 32gb of memory which is enough for anything you want to listen to. There is a sample of loaded on the headset when it shipped so I got to experience spatial audio and it was awesome. The charge cable has one problem in my opinion the magnetic connector is attached to the cable and if the cable ever breaks you will need to buy another cable. A usb-c to usb A connector adapter is included for charging from a USB-c source. If they had made the magnetic connector a seperate female connector that the cable plugs into it would be better. Otherwise a great addition to the tayogo line.

I was very skeptical about a bone conducting mp3 but found the sound is quite good under the water with the ear plugs which are included. I found the sound is louder inside the water, so needed to adjust the volume accordingly. Which brings me to mention about the volume control buttons. There are 3 buttons altogether to control this mp3. Volume control(+ & -)works well. One more button which is multi functional for power on/off and changing modes from mp3 to bluetooth. I'm still struggling to turn it off by pressing for 3 seconds(?). Tricky. One more thing I do not like is the headband that sticks out in a weird way. I wish it to be less rigid. These short comings can be overcome with a decent pricing and easy-to-use product that I can down load my songs directly from my Galaxy s23. Very convenient. The package has all the necessary parts from a magnetic charging cable, ear plugs(which is a bit big on my ear canals) and instruction booklet. Rather than reading this booklet, I used Gemini which was so much easier to understand. Overall, I'm happy with the product.

Easy to setup and deliver very good sound.

Utterly brilliant! I was toying with purchasing one of the more premium headsets, but after seeing some good reviews I decided to try these first. Even on a 2.5K set, these stayed on perfectly, the fit was ideal and didn't cause any discomfort at all and worked perfectly. There was no hint of any battery drop at all either. They dont feel heavy so can wear these for a long time I would say. I managed to drag and drop all the purchased music from iTunes straight into the folder, and that worked fine!

Très satisfait pour l'instant. Casque confortable pour ma morphologie, tient bien en place et se fait oublier. Bonne durée de la batterie. Audio sonne bien. J'aime bien la conduction osseuse, agréable car laisse les oreilles libres pour les autres sons autour de moi. J'ai choisi Tayogo pour leur savoir faire en natation. Pas encore essayé en piscine mais validé sous la douche. Le micro a l'air correct. Attention, comme tout casque à conduction, une ambiance sonore trop élevée nuira à l'écoute du casque.
