Awesome Awning, and Quite Robust!
Word of Caution: I actually did what is NOT recommended and purchased this to replace the junk bag-style awning on our pop-up camper. I just couldn't help but think I could make this work because of its relatively light weight (35 lbs) and the fact that I would never have to mess with setting up flimsy support poles on the ends when extended. I figured the awning itself would work very well, and it definitely does! My worry was it becoming damaged and/or even falling off of the side of the camper while driving. I'm pleased to say that by modifying the mounting brackets just slightly, it works very well! I do still use a pair of rubber straps with hooks around the retracted awning just as a precautionary device to further hold the unit to the camper's roof rack while driving, but after a few trips on both highways and dirt roads, I would say these are unnecessary. Not only did the awning mount well to the camper, it is super easy to extend and retract! You can also extend it to whatever length you like - it does not have to be fully extended to work - this is great for higher-than-normal winds! The arms are sturdy, yet lightweight, and the solid green cloth is slightly translucent, but does provide great shade and rain protection! I've even wrapped LED string lights around the arms to light it up underneath at night! To mount, I actually had to drill holes vertically through the ends of the brackets and in the square frame tube for the mounting bolts so it would hold together without any sliding or lateral movement - everything is tightened down better by doing this. Even though this comes with several styles of mounting hardware, I did have to purchase custom nut/bolt/washer assemblies to properly mount the brackets to the camper roof, but this minor extra expense was well worth it! If this thing works super well on our pop-up, it will certainly work well when conventionally installed over a window, door, or small patio on your house/building!

Good product, installation instructions need improvement.
Well-constructed, works well once installed. The installation instructions are poor, but I found a couple of videos on YouTube that were helpful. It would actually be a fairly simple installation if the instructions were better. I installed it by myself but two people are really required to hang the awning on the brackets.

High Quality, Easy Install, Poor Instructions
Installed this awning on the side of our dock house. The materials were of surprising good quality and the overall design and installation procedure was well thought-out. Opening the box was a little daunting because it arrives with lots of parts and pieces. I just took my time, minimized the distractions and tried to follow the directions, which were poorly illustrated with little to no explanation. The parts illustrations were terrible, with basically lots of the parts pictures looking identical to one another! I assembled it in my shop on a workbench, which helped a lot, Mostly, I just needed a few metric wrenches, a screw driver and a rubber hammer. Once I figured out how it was going together it all started to make sense. The final installation went very smoothly; absolutely requiring two people to put it up into the well-designed steel brackets. It works perfectly, looks great and seems like it will last a long time. I would absolutely buy this product again.

Great value, horroble assembly instructions
With little more than a hundred bucks, this product is a great value - compare to using professional services companies to install an awning it would cost nearly 3X-5X times more. The product is very sturdy, and after it's installed, very easy to use and provides great value. A couple of minor issues with the product design, the over-hanging valance part isn't hanging in flat and striaght fashion but wrinkled (see photos), so it would be better to use an clothing iron to straighten it first before install. And the horizontal bar is slightly tilted after awning's full extension, could be due to the location of the support arms not perfrectly even. The assembly and install process is actually not that difficult, but being made much wrose by the unclear and confusing assembly instruction manual. The illustration diagrams are too small to tell the assembly details, and the descritpions are also confusing. I had to go onto YouTube to find some tutorial videos to figure out the whole assembly process. The most challenge part of the installation on the wall is to find the studs to mount the support jack or base. For homes like mine where wall exterior is covered by sidings, the typical stud finders used on dry walls won't work. So I had to use a small drill to first drill a few places to make sure I find the stud or beam, and not mounting the awning on the wall sidings which won't be able to support the awning's weight.

Not bad, not great, about what to expect for the price point.
Overall a decent awning for the price. We have had for 4 years and thinking of replacing due to fabric fade. The mechanics still work fine. The fabric did fray on the overhang after a couple of years and the fabric stains. The installation instructions were poor, but with some patience was able to figure it out.

Really good awning
Needed something to shade our kitchen slider. The metal handle gets so hot you need an oven mit to grab it. I chose this awning based on analysis of the reviews. Bad reviews were mostly about assembly and installation. The awning is not hard to assemble. Certainly easier than most Ikea furniture I've put together. The instructions could use a dose of western logic, but mistakes are easy to recover from. Once assembled it feels structurely solid. The spring arms have sufficient tension to keep the awning taunt and deploying and retracting are effortless. The only complaint I have would be the sharp edges on the fabric channels. I filed them down, but they have the potential to tear the awning when assembling if you're not careful.

Buy something else, it wont last a year in socal
Weak construction (material, design), i hade to reinforce it so it will be secured properly once its fully opened. It will rust, the rusty water will tint the wall, permanently... But the worst is when the awning material goes bad in a season (weak, cheap material) the company refuses to sell you a replacement material. You will have to re-purchase the whole kit. Buy something else, this one doesnt worth it.

Almost perfect.
This was my first retractable awning. I purchased this in 2016 and have had it since then. Here are the Pros and Cons. Pro: 1) Since the time purchase, I've had the awning extended all season long, except when the weather is windy. 2) The fabric didn't start ripping until 2023 (which I replaced with an Aleko 8ft x 6.5ft) 3) The gear drive has withstand the California weather and it's still able to smoothly retract and extend without issues. 4) Out of the box, assembling the awning took about 30 minutes. 5) Mounting it to the wall was simple and can be accomplished by one person with one ladder. 6) The 2 mounting brackets are heavy duty, however, I bought 1 more wall bracket since I was going to have the awning fully extended year around. (The "Diensweek Patio Awning Retractable Manual Commercial Grade Awnings Power Coated Steel Bracket" is identical to the brackets that came with the awning). Cons: 1) Replacing the awning fabric requires the roller tube to be removed. However, I found a faster and easier way to do it (see pics). Hope this helps.

Works well
Good product. Brackets should be a little bit bigger in order to distribute the weight of the awning to the house and easier to match both brackets to the exterior wall studs.

More like an awning kit
I had previously purchased an 8 foot awning from this manufacturer, which arrived fully assembled and was relatively easy to install and adjust. These 10 foot awnings came almost entirely disassembled; boxes of parts and fasteners, with instructions that were rather poor - more than once I had to refer to the 8 foot awning I'd already put up. Kind of like Ikea but with poorer instructions. Took hours of work to assemble and install.

Bonne produit
Il est de bonne qualité, facile à installer, mais il est un peu lourd, il est important de renforcer le mur où il est installé

Beware, the awning is more than 8 feet wide.
The brick around our patio door is framed by slanted aluminium siding so we had exactly 8 feet of space for mounting into the brick and it did not fit!! For anyone else with this problem, know that the fabric of the awning is 8 feet wide but the mechanism and mounting hardware adds about 2" on each side. We had to first mount a 2x6 plank (pressure treated) into the 2x4 framing under the siding with 6" leg bolts and then mount the brackets to that. Aside from that, the installation would have been quite simple. Fast shipping and arrived perfect condition.
