As you mentioned flickering; is it actual flickering of the video or is the video stream choppy?  If the stream plays back in a choppy (video stalling) manner; the issue is likely network congestion or the Mac Mini itself becoming over-tasked (not easy to do).  If the it's actual flickering of the video; that would indicate a cabling problem, a failing connection at the camcorder, mac mini or, interface [capture] device.  My best advice is to validate your cabling (use a cable validator tool), ensure the Mac Mini is not overloaded with tasks including unneeded software running in the background, ensure the capture software(s) and associated drivers are up to date with the latest stable version available (also beware some versions of software may have known issues requiring you to use another stable version of the software) and, ensure no issues with the camcorders including those of compatibility.  It may be the extender(s) themselves failing which they will do if they are not allowed to  properly ventilate themselves.

I am not sure what your question is but I assume that you want to connect the video source to a second TV. Assuming that your video source has an HDMI connector, this extender should work perfectly. You may also need an HDMI splitter if your video source only has one HDMI connection. You would need a short HDMI cable to the extender. Then run a Cat5 or Cat6 from that extender to the other TV location. Plug the Cat5 or 6 into the other extender box, then another short HDMI cable to the second TV. 
I have a central media closet and use these HDMI extenders for all of my 5 TV's. Works great! I also use HDMI splitters from the video source to all TV's.

Vid source downstairs; have Cat5 connected from source > router used only for signal (internet) distribution to other rooms. Will it work thru router?

Accepted Answer

No. This requires a separate direct wire from device to device. It works well. It is not based on a network protocol which is why it will not work. It also carries an audio signal.
