Love these! They are so smooth and they don't smear. They are clicks retractable gel pens and the colors are bright and bold, perfect for black or regular paper. There's no skippage when using and they last a long time when stored properly as it's any gel pen. They're perfect for doodling, journaling, or for scrapbooks. 100% recommend.

These are my favorite pens and to see they came out with a gel version that pops on dark paper ... Yeah I was happy! Love love love paper mate ink joy pens. They look great on black paper and great on white paper. Flow is great, drying time takes a little due to gel ink but not much. Grip is good. Easy to write and really flows. Not streaky like I find some gel pens to be.

I just got this pen yesterday and so happy to see the bright vibrant color of the pen body and I can’t wait to try them out. I have more than 300 different kind of pens. So I know if the pen is snooth write or not, I have been doing this long enough to give the best and honest review. The design and ergonomic of the pen is good. The grip is standard. The ink is NOT flowing it’s skipping a lot and its annoying when you write and you have to go back and rewrite. I thought only for the first time after you took the protection ball from the pointer. After half of the printing paper full of testing but ink still not flowing smoothly. It writes soooo badly. Not a fast drying ink so be careful you have to wait until ink dries or it will smear all over. If you write very very slowly the skipping not as bad but still skipping. I wish i can return this and get refund but most of the time if you already open the package and use the items they are not refundable. I am ready to toss this into the trash can. PAPER MATE better fix this.

Paper Mate's Ink Joy pens have been my go-to pen since they first arrived on the market and I tried them! These are AWESOME! I love the way they work with both white and black paper! They're smooth as expected and do an amazing job! I love that I can use them on all colors of paper! Will definitely buy again when I wear these out!

First, let me say how much I love the vibrant colors, which show up so nicely on my black paper-which is what I bought them for. However- they write so poorly. The ink skips terribly. I have bought 4 packs of this same set in the hopes of getting a smoother set. But, alas, it is the same every time! Skipping or not writing at all. I even went on You Tube and followed instructions for taking off the ballpoint tip and soaking in water and using a pin to get the ink flowing again. The first time I did this with one pen--it worked and the ink flowed well for a while, but after letting it sit overnight, the next day it wasn't working again. A couple of the pens would not write at ALL- no matter how much I scribbled with them and tried to unclog the tips. I am so disappointed in these pens. I hope they fix the issue so in the future they write as good as they look. Also, wish I had read product reviews before buying.

I was mostly happy with the first packaged I bought. But the very next day the sea foam pen stopped writing entirely. I tried apply heat to the nib and even at the plastic a tad. I tried writing on cardboard. Nothing worked. I’m very stubborn so I worked on this a very long time. I requested a return with a replacement and Amazon sent it the next day which I was thrilled about! I opened up the second package to test them out and the green one didn’t work at all! I again tried all the steps I did with the first sea foam pen and it just wouldn’t write. So, I decided the compare each color pen from each package side by side to see which individual pen performed against the other. There was also a grittiness in some of the pens. I’ve included comparisons on black and white paper. I’ve only had these for a few days so I can’t speak to the longevity of the pens. I have the regular ink joy pens which always write perfectly and smoothly. Overall these pens work better on white paper than black. So if you aren’t going to ever write on black paper, the smoothness won’t really be an issue. If you can swing it financially, I would recommend getting two packages because there was just too much quality differences in specific pens in the different packages.

Very special pens and love them.

I love the way these pens write and color options. However there have been a couple different times now that a pen has stopped writing as if the ink has run out even though it is only a couple weeks old. They can smudge if you don't give it a second to dry but it's worth it.

Amazing colors, really bright on black paper. Only issue I have is the smoothness of the writing, it catches and doesn't push out constant ink. Other than that, they are amazing!

Ink feels nice, you do have to work with it a little bit but there is promise to these. The white especially. I’ve been looking for a white pen for a while and I may incorporate this one into my artwork. Build quality is strong and feels sturdy. Not flimsy. Clicking is thick and nice. Colour on dark paper is beautiful. The yellow and the white get a little washed out on plain paper (as expected) but the other colours perform beautifully. Great consistency. I love this brand of pens so I was eager to try these out and I love them, along with their other collections.
