Excellent durability and portability
Got this for my senior mom for a trip to Europe. Although she doesnโt typically use mobility aids, she has a rollator for extended walking on excursions so she can sit to rest. Since our trip would include extensive walking for 2 weeks we got this since it has feee rests and was advertised as all-terrain with front wheels that are larger than most other items of this type. I also saw a review where a woman used this on cobblestones without issue so I took a chance. This was excellent! It was extremely easy and quick to assemble and it was easy to transport on the plane, ship and taxis since it collapses and the foot rests for easily into the basket. I did attach address labels with our phone number to the foot rests and rollator as well as get a luggage strap to secure it when it was collapsed because it doesnโt maintain the folded position if moved. In several taxis we had to unscrew/remove the front wheels because the vehicle capacities are smaller in Europeโฆbut most of the time we only had to lower the handles to make it fit. The only concern we had when collapsing the rollator was the brake lines. They would stick out and could get caught on things if not careful, including when raising the handles. The included Velcro helped hold it against the frame but there was slack when folding/lowering the handles. We pushed my mom frequently to save time and when the surface was uneven (which was often). The front wheels rotate but if they werenโt turned in the forward position it would be difficult to move the rollator at first. If someone would just forcefully push it, I think it could break the front wheel. This is especially true on uneven surfacesโthe cobblestones at Italian sites (Colosseum, Pompeii, old streets, etc) were difficult at times to navigate. While pushing my mom if there was a larger gap, my husband and I would each have to lift up on the front wheel while he pushed the chair over the hump/divot in the pavement. This happened on thresholds on sidewalks and streets but we eventually figured out that we could cross at an angle. The foot rests were quick and simple to attach and take off. Be careful to always put them in the basket under the seat after removing them so you donโt forget them at a restaurant! Even with the foot rests in the basket there was room to store other items. Also be careful when turning the chair if the personโs heels arenโt fully on the foot rests. My mom would sometimes have her feet closer to her so the wheels would hit her when trying to turn. We eventually figured out what she was doing and she isnโt fragile but it could be jarring to others and was a nuisance at best. I think it would have been nice if the angle/length of the foot rests were adjustable, but the simplicity was a huge plus so it is just something to be aware of. On level surfaces it was extremely easy to push my mom. On cobblestones or slanted sidewalks it could be challenging and at times a workout in itself! I donโt know if a standard wheelchair would have been easier to push in these circumstances but my mom is fortunate to only need this rollator and it was far less cumbersome than a WC. We highly recommend this rollator and are extremely satisfied with its ability to easily and safely transport my mom on our big trip. Without it we wouldnโt have been able to cover so much area and see so many sites!

We put it to heavy use and it paid off.
I usually walk with a rollator, but my daughter had a destination wedding that required flights and challenging walking. This rollator/ wheelchair was perfect. It requires a bit more to get it in the trunk than my regular rollator, but itโs definitely worth it. I felt safe being pushed. We used it as a wheelchair over some really rough cobble stone streets. I am 5โ8 and weigh 175 lbs. for reference. It required very little assembly and the brakes are strong. I did a lot of research before I bought this model and it paid off.

Wonderfully useful
Chose this model for the functionality: the ability to give my mother a seat in public, as she needs one frequently, while providing walking assistance with the option of a transport chair. I compared this to another brand which, shockingly, had no footrests when modified to be a transport chair. It does fold very easily, but I suspect we are unable to fold it down all the way because we use the basket as storage for the footrests. I really wish there was an option to just fold the footrests up or down on the chair, so as not to sacrifice cargo space in the basket for when we donโt need them, but we make do. When folded, itโs possible that unit takes up an entire trunk. I drive a medium-sized SUV and because there are other smaller items in my cargo area, I need to remove the brake handles in order to close the hatch when transporting this. They come out very easily, at least. It lays on top of every item that is already in my rear cargo area because otherwise it would be difficult to fit things, but we stowed this on top of several bags of luggage for a family of five, a bucket of toys, and a small cooler when going on vacation. It maneuvers easily and doesnโt take a lot of strength to push on cement or a shopping mall floor (the two places weโve used this). Assembly was indeed quick and straightforward, and the construction of these pieces seem very sturdy. No complaints on quality. These specific features are easy to take for granted but extremely noticeable when they are lacking, so Iโd like to stress how good these are. I also appreciate how the wheels are not inflatable, and how sturdy the footrest feels when hooked into the frame for use. In general I would choose this again despite the criticisms.

BUILT WELL, BUT SEAT IS HARD
I just received my new Z51 Shift model rollator/transport chair today and I'm giving my initial impressions. It's a well-thought-out design for a very useful dual-purpose chair. I researched every similar style dual purpose chair I could find online and this seems to have more great features and sturdier construction than any other I found for the price - the trade off is it's a bit heavy. I especially like the much sturdier wider, treaded wheels. I can see why most of the reviews are so positive. I made mental notes from a helpful reviewer who said it's easier to make tight turns if the 'pusher' taps one brake: right brake to turn right, left brake to turn left. And I can see why it's important to keep the swivel wheels turned forward over uneven surfaces, otherwise you could put undo sideways pressure on the wheel yoke and risk it breaking, as some have done. I guess we can't expect it to steer or push like a grocery cart, with our loved one in it. The weight is more vertical than a cart. And, with those 8" rear wheels, we also can't expect it to handle like a standard wheelchair either. But most folks will have no trouble at all. I did have one frustrating problem putting it together though. At least at first look, the 2 larger swiveling wheels appear to be interchangeable for either side but they are not. Their plastic fittings into the chair legs have a brass insert on only one side, which I found out must be facing the chair's inward side so the knob can screw all the way in from the outside. There's nothing in the instructions for this, which made for very frustrating trial and error. Regarding assembly: As others have mentioned, it would be VERY helpful if they would label the various wheels and handles with stickers, with corresponding stickers on the matching sides of their mated parts: A to A, B to B and so on. But then, you only have to assemble it once, and you're done. One drawback so far: Be aware that the "cushioned" seat is very hard. So for now, I'm using a cushion on top. The hooking of the foot rests onto the sides is fussy and a hinge arrangement would be nice instead. But some folks might want to use it as a rollator without the footrests with their added weight. All that said, I look forward to a bit more freedom to get around and get out more easily with the help of this wonderful chair and my 'pushy' friends. Update 2-1-25: BE AWARE. Took the chair for a 3-hour outing and found some challenges. Yes, as other reviewers have mentioned, it is difficult to push a seated person over even small transitions like from cement onto asphalt. Even more difficult if there's even a tiny bit of an incline involved. Also, I'm 5'2" with narrow shoulders and the handles made for a very tight fit and zero wiggle room. Wish the seat back was a bit higher for better support and chair balance.

Strong and Solid
This the fourth rollator I have owned. It is no contest on the issue of strength or sturdiness. I am a large size 80 year old man at 6-2 and around 200 lbs, and need something that I can rely on because I have my own strength and balance issues to deal with. The other rollators were all very good devices that I highly recommend. They're all light weight, sturdy, and easy to use... but, they're also light weight and while sturdy, lack the kind of confidence building substance that this one has. THAT IS BOTH GOOD AND BAD... The VOCIC Walker is built like a tank. When you need to stand up with it, you feel like you're grabbing ahold of a strong man, one who can help you with confidence. Walking with it feels like you holding an arm that won't let you down. If you start to stumble, it refuses to let it happen, and you can regain your footing easily. For those with a degenerative muscle issue (especially in the legs), you know you'll make it to your destination, whether walking or riding. The only con for this is that the seat is very low (20 inches off the ground), and it's difficult for a tall man with weak legs to get out of... a very minor con, not even close to a game-changer... and can be compensated with a thick cushion. If Vocic can make the seat adjustable, that would be a bonus worthy of an academy award. The non-inflatable rubber wheels make all the difference in the world. They feel pneumatic, and have a spring in them like bicycle tires. When you apply the brakes, this rollator STOPS, and when the brakes are locked, it STAYS. Typical plastic wheels tend to slide, even when locked. But with this one, if I need to stop to catch up with myself, the rubber wheels agree with me and serve me well and quickly. The tread adds that little extra grip needed to feel secure. The Vocic is slightly harder to navigate than others with plastic wheels, but the feel of solidity is more than a fair trade-off. The hybrid feature of a wheelchair is like a perk from heaven. I can rollate myself about a hundred yards, maybe more, but myopathy limits how far I can walk. Now, even my 70 year-old wife can wheel me around the mall or grocery store like a champ. We can go for a walk around town without worry. For really long distances, one of my sons or daughter can take over, and off we go. What I'm saying in all this is that I have regained mobility again. I don't feel house-bound. It's a freedom I haven't felt for nearly a decade. Thank you, Vocic, for being so inventive... you're my hero.

Heavy
Easy to assemble, but had to work on the brakes for a while to adjust them. Not worth the money. very heavy, hard to steer on carpet.

Surprisingly sturdy
I was HIGHLY skeptical of this lightweight little thing when it showed up. I am 4'11 and about 120lbs, and newly disabled. We booked a vacation months ago and couldn't get our money back, which is where this thing comes in. We have taken this "wheelchair" everywhere and it held up better than we expected. We took it on 4 plane rides, over desert terrain, rocks, dirt, grass, uneven brickwork...everywhere. I will admit the rocks or gravel was the most difficult to navigate. Any large bumps or divots I did get up for, but otherwise it did well. The front wheels move but the back ones do not, and this does make it hard to turn in some instances but it is not often. It folds up nicely and the foot rests do come off. The tires are also thick and wide, which was the main reason I got this chair. Most of the normal wheelchairs had such thin wheels, or they were super expensive. I did have to do some improvements to make this more comfortable but it was not horrible. If you are going to be using this for more than 2-3 hours I highly recommend you get a back rest and seat cushion set. The seat for this is rock hard and extremely uncomfortable. I also had to put foam pads on the foot rests to cut down on the jostling of my foot (and because I was to short to reach). I do have nerve damage in my foot so any movement did bother it, hence the foam pads. I think a normal person would be fine without this modification. I also had crutches that we shortened the whole way and slid them over each of the handlebars, then bungee corded to keep secure. It ended up being a great purchase and absolutely saved our trip.

Versatile and comfortable
My wife loves this walker and frequently compares it to others. It's very comfortable, especially for back support, and folds up to fit nicely in the back of our vehicle.

Good
Overall very happy with it but it is a little difficult to steer when pushing it with someone sitting in it.
