THE ORIGINAL HERO. A BRAND-NEW ADVENTURE. Percy Jackson has saved the world multiple times – battling monsters, Titans, even death himself – so graduating high school should be a breeze, right? Wrong . Percy needs three recommendation letters from the gods before his final year in high school comes to an end. And one thing Percy knows, the gods on Mount Olympus don’t do anything for free. To secure his second letter, Percy and his friends Annabeth and Grover agree to a new quest – pet-sitting for the goddess Hecate while she’s away over Halloween. They just need to follow her simple rules: Look after the pets like their lives depend on it (because they do) Don’t touch anything – especially Hecate’s magic potions! See points 1 and 2 But when Grover’s curiosity gets the better of him, the trio find themselves with a giant goat, a destroyed house, and Hecate’s (terrifying and potentially deadly) pets on the loose in New York City. Now the trio have twenty-four hours to find the pets and restore the mansion to order – or face the full fury of Hecate and her horrifying three-heads. Percy Jackson: Wrath of the Triple Goddess by Rick Riordan Genre: Fantasy/Adventure/Humor Audience: 12+ Rating: 4 stars out of 5 Review This is the second book in the Percy Jackson The Senior Year Adventures series. It can be read as a standalone book but readers would definitely understand the background, characters, and story better if they have read the previous book in this series (The Chalice of the Gods) and the previous series (Percy Jackson and the Olympians). In this book, Percy Jackson obtains his second letter of recommendation for college admission. The recommendation comes from the Greek goddess Hecate who sets him a seemingly simple task: to look after her house and her two pets while she is away for a few days. Of course, a lot of things go wrong and, after a series of wild adventures, everything is set right with happiness being spread among everybody. A minus point of the book is the "smart and witty adolescent" writing style that, to an adult reader, tends to grate after a while; the solution is to not read too much at a time, and to take a break from the series, between books. Another minus point is the breakneck pace of action that is the bane of television. It's also a pity that the young adventurers idolize junk food. Lastly, the disgust element was more than a bit overdone in this book. The plus points of the book are many and large. The story entertains. The humor is both slapstick and intellectual and so caters to all audiences; and there is humor on almost every page, in almost every paragraph. Female characters are not neglected. The young adventurers are good at heart. Last but not least, excuse the cliche, emphasis is laid on empathy and kindness, something that the real world needs much more of.

Another great Percy Jackson adventure
I bought this for my son, who loves the Percy Jackson series, and it was a great addition to his collection. He was keen to get stuck into another Percy Jackson adventure and this one has plenty of the humour, mythology and action that makes the series so enjoyable. He likes that Percy, Annabeth and Grover are back together again. The story feels familiar in the best way, with plenty of chaos along the way and some entertaining situations for the characters to deal with. The Greek mythology is still a big part of the fun, but the story is easy to follow and doesn't feel like a heavy read. There are plenty of twists and funny moments to keep things moving. For a child who already enjoys Percy Jackson, I think this is a really enjoyable addition to the series. My son was happy to have another book featuring characters he already knows and likes, which is probably the best recommendation I can give. It has the adventure, humour and mythology I'd expect from a Percy Jackson book, and it's been a welcome addition to his reading pile.
