I’m taking a few minutes to write a review based on reaction from some of the other reviews I saw posted when I was shopping for a chair mat. I wanted to help out people that may be stressing out from some saying “looks nice but slides all over”. It doesn’t, read below to help you decide. I have been working from my home office for the last few months. So I needed a mat to put down on my hardwood floors to protect them from wear from my office chair. I wanted a clear mat so it doesn’t detract from the hard wood flooring. I also wanted one with a “lip” to go under the desk for my feet as well as a surface area for the chair. I found this 47”x36” one in the SHAREWIN Chair Mats for hard wood floors. Price was great at $26.99 and perfect footprint for looks and performance in a home office. So what’s the problem? Well, I kept seeing mixed reviews...some satisfied but some saying it slips and moves around too much. Oh no..who wants a chair mat that slips and moves around. Argh! Well, I decided to take a chance. I mean, at that price, it’s not a huge deal if it doesn’t work out. So, I place the order, I get the mat and now it’s time to put it to the test. First I unroll the mat and lay it down to straighten out and “uncurl”. They are shipped rolled up and wrapped, so they have to settle and lay down (time varies but usually by morning at room temperature they are flat). I put books on the corners of mine to help it flatten out. As I was doing that I did notice it seemed to slide around a bit. But, I gave it overnight to settle. The next day I pick up the books and it’s nice and flat. Now it’s on to the “slipping” test. I place it in front of my desk and *important* put the SLICK clear side down and the slightly textured/frosted side up. I put my chair on the mat. I rolled my chair around, pushed on the mat with my feet...and nothing, it stayed in place and worked perfectly fine...all day. Success! My search was over and I paid less than I had planned. Another great product found on Amazon. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and still no problems. If you pick up the sides and pull up it will lose contact with the floor and slide wherever you move it. Then simply place it back down flat on the floor and it stays in place. Don’t worry about people saying it slides all over. If it’s sliding on them then maybe it’s a polish or coating or something on their floor (or they have the wrong side down). This mat itself has no problems, it grips the floor and works well. So hopefully that helps out anyone on the fence like I was about it. Great price, great product, no worries.

The mat is still curling up on one edge. Followed the instructions when it arrived and continue to work on getting the one side to lay flat. Normally on Friday I will put heavy hardcover books down on the side that was the inner most when it was unrolled. It's been a month of having books sit over a weekend for several weekends and it still has a slight curl. It's not bad, but it does cause me a bit of a tripping issue if I am not paying attention when I walk to my desk. The raised part will catch on my shoe causing it to flip up and over. Now I have the end of an oval rug sitting on the slightly curled end to hold it down for me. After reading several people reporting it slides around I have found that it does slide a bit over a period of time. In a month it's probably slide backwards about a 1/2" from where I originally had it sitting. That is almost all day 5-days a week usage for over a month so the sliding is very minimal for me.

Our floor was getting scraped by the desk chair. This floor mat looks great, stays in place. It seems to be crack resistant and a good value for the money. It is light weight and has no smell. I would recommend to anyone who is having the floor scratches problem.

I move my feet a lot, apparently. It's not something I pay much attention to, but the tab on this floor mat keeps rolling over and catching my feet. The trouble began when I received the package. You see, I'm an idiot. I had previously ordered an Amazon Basics polycarbonate chair mat for carpet--but then decided to replace the carpet with laminate flooring. I liked the poly mat, but the cleats on the bottom didn't look Pergo-friendly, so it was donated to my wife's co-worker because her boss was too cheap to purchase one. The Amazon map showed up in a flat package--no unrolling required. This replacement mat showed up rolled up tighter than a garage door coil spring. The instructions said to lay it flat and put weights on the corner overnight. I did that, but the corners still curled a little. I figured use would eventually lay it flat. No luck. there's ripples in the plastic that aren't going away and the tab, as I noted, keeps trying to roll itself back up. The other problem I have is migration. The flat side of the mat is down, as it is supposed to be, but every time I get up and come back into the room--I have to put it back into position. It's not like the flooring I have has a smooth surface, it's just a little rough. But I can't get the mat to stay put. That said, the mat is certainly clear enough and I suppose it will protect the flooring from the wheels of my office chair. But I've had enough and will be ordering the hard floor version of the Amazon Basics polycarbonate mat because it ships flat--which will take care of the worst problem, anyway. And, hopefully, it will be happy to find a home and not go migrating toward the door like this one.

I bought this ages ago but forgot to review it. It's been over 12 months and my flooring is completely undamaged thanks to this mat

I'm writing this the day after receiving the mat. I was impatient to put it on my floor and it was a cold day, so I put it on top of a radiator to warm up and soften to make unrolling easier. I had read several reviews and was bit worried about how well this would perform. Being impatient I took it off the radiator before it was fully warmed up (I could feel it was still cold at the middle of the roll). As expected it unrolled easily where warmed up and less easily where still cold. All that said, after laying it smooth side down, it is performing perfectly. The mat itself is stable on the floor surface (varnished wood boards) and provides a great surface for the wheeled office chair on top. I feel like I am rolling around on cream. I weighted the curling back edge (the previously colder inside of the roll) with books overnight and now there is just a slight hump - as there is at the front edge too. I am pretty confident that these will eventually relax and the whole thing will be flat. I had wondered if the size would be OK and it is – I can roll my chair back to stand up and it does not come off the back edge. I recommend the mat with the front lip that goes under the desk as this is needed for the front wheels of your chair when you are working close to the desk. My chair is making no indents on the plastic because it is directly on top of a wood floor with nothing in between. Highly recommended – and a good buy at the price

I actually put it on a carpeted area and it is not moving around for me. It is a good quality product, I am 200Lbs+ and the wheels of my chair are not leaving any tracks so far. I have read in other reviews that some people had issues unrolling it. I did not have any. I made sure to enroll it so that the curve at the edge faces the floor and not the ceiling. Then I lied on it for about 10 minutes and it was almost completely flat. (If you have a yoga mat and do some activity, it is a good idea to put the yoga mat on top for that 10 minute period.) Then I put it in the intended area and it was completely flat the next day. Now I have some industrial carpet, it works for me, I cannot guarantee it works on any kind of carpet.
