Fiddley, but worth the effort.
I got this for privacy in an upstairs office, and I've just installed it 4 times on 1 main window. It's not the easiest thing to get perfect, but as you go, you get better, and the overall effect is excellent! My own minor issue is that it's a little too dark on the inside. The window is north-facing, and even on a fully sunny day, the room is darker. However, after a quick and easy install, I checked from the outside, and it is really, really hard to see in; I'm so pleased. It took me about 20 minutes to fit all 4 areas in 1 window. The two things I learnt when putting them in are: 1. use the straight edges, so you only have to cut two sides to a window, not four, and 2. practise when you do have to cut around the edges; it's really fiddly.

Great product, easy to apply
Great product, hides the horrible view but still lets light in. Once you work out what you are doing, it is so easy to install. Lots of water, measure properly and a squeegee are key. It is tougher than we thought so easier to install because of that. We thought we'd try this as a temporary solution to see if we liked the look before getting it done professionally but it looks great and unless it deteriorates, there is no reason to get a professional job.

Blocks the heat and UV
This film is thicker and more robust than others we have used but I particularly wanted it for a bedroom window. It has kept the room cool throughout the recent heatwave where before it was like walking into an oven. This one does make the room slightly darker, but I'm happy with that. It went on as easy as other brands but has dried out in a couple of the corners so we will have to do a refit at some point, hence the 4 stars. Overall it does what I wanted it to.

Effective but only temporary
I have mixed feelings about this window film. On the positive side, it does what it's supposed to do and it's a cheap way to help protect your house from overheating on sunny days. It reflects sun's rays, keeps the house cooler and works a bit like sunglasses for your windows. You can still see outside, but people outside can't see in because the windows take on a mirror-like appearance. However, it's not a perfect solution. The film starts to peel off over time and doesn't stay in place forever. It's more of a temporary option to use during the heatwave and if you're lucky it might last a month or so before needing to be removed or replaced.Applying it can also be a bit of a hassle. You need to use water during installation and it's important to be careful because small pockets of trapped water can remain under the film. These can leave marks that may still be visible on the glass after the film is removed. Getting rid of those stains can be tricky.

Success! This worked better than expected
During a room refurb we decided that we didn't want net curtains anymore, yet we wanted the privacy protection that such afforded. And so after a bit of looking around we decided to try this one way window film. It has been a total success! I have never installed this kind of product before, but the instructions were quite clear, and the actual work required was quite simple to do. Key is ensuring the window glass is literaly clinically clean and free of any grit or other particles that will cause the film to bubble at that spot. Having done that, the film applied easily, was easy to reposition and squeegee the water out. It was initally mildly cloudy but that cleared after three days. The mirror effect is good, from outside it is impossible to see in during daylight. But you will need curtains for night time as the mirror effect reverses and outsiders can see in. Heat reduction is marked, very effective. Cutting the material requires a fresh blade in the knife ... I went for tungsten but that is probably excessive given it is only plastic material!

'Tis cool. Looks cool. Quite Private. Lowers temp.
Bought for the privacy and hadn't considered the cooling! Last summer, 20 degrees C outside meant far too hot in south facing living room. This year 28 degrees outside and the same room is perfectly liveable, and that's with only bottom half of the window covered. I would say a good 8-10 deg C difference. So good that I've bought more, for other rooms in the house and my car. The privacy part is not quite as good as I'd hoped but there's a compromise between 'privacy reflection' and 'living in the dark even at midday'. Obviously with a lit room and dark outside one can still see through from outside, so don't get too complacent with regard to lack of clothing. Wish there were some other colours. Image shows a fair comparison of top half with no film, lower half with film in terms of seeing out of a window. Some darkening but fine for summer. Will need to remove in winter to get more light though. Shame it can't easily be stored. Honestly will save cost of cooling house and offset against that and eco cost of running aircon... against wasting plastic film... how green are you feeling?

Easy to apply and great blackout effect
Putting up window cling is a 2-person job. Unfortunately, I'm one person and don't have any help. This roll of slightly stiffer, opaque cling is the first I've ever been able to get placed nicely, get the bubbles out, smooth the corners - and all with pretty minimal effort. It promises to do a great job of blocking out the worst of the heatwave, too. It'll reflect sunlight without actually making the neighbours opposite endure the glare from a one-sided mirror finish.Because it's slightly more rigid than many cling finishes, it looks quite smart once it's in place - from the inside like I had a window replaced with a PVC panel. From the outside, it's somehow less obvious than the clear, privacy-pattern cling I had in place before this one. I need more to keep the house cool this winter, and won't dream of buying a different one. For blackout window cling, this product is "it".

Super O
