It's a pretty straightforward TV holder. LOL the directions are pretty simple I put it up and it took me about an hour by myself. You do need a stud finder if you are putting it up just a little FYI and a drill if you have all those you are set. Only problem I did have was my fan was in the way of where I wanted to put it but after a few little maneuvers I figured a new spot.

Very easy to install and I used molly bolts in three locations instead of trying to find the trusses.

I absolutely love this ceiling mount. Perfect for our 43" tv that we purchased for the back porched which we recently screened in. The instructions were not as detailed as I would have liked, but I understood the concept. I love that this mount folds up to the ceiling when not in use and folds down when ready to be viewed although I have to use step stool to fold up or down.

This mount is a little flimsy for a large tv

I would have returned this for something sturdier and with more features, but this mount was the only one that allowed me to hang a 55” Samsung 1-2” from the ‘ceiling’ of an inset TV alcove; other mounts leave the TV hanging too far down.Overall, I agree with other reviewers who say this mount is flimsy, and the weight of my TV makes it hang at a slight downward angle (no way to lock it perpendicular to the floor). And, the only way to store the TV in the up position is to push it all the way up/back, then pull it up/toward you about an inch to engage 2 hooks over a horizontal bolt. I didn’t need the locking feature, just a way to hang a tv within a 2’ deep enclosed drywall alcove (designed for the old tube-style TVs).I added a stud within the ceiling of the alcove to hold the mount, but otherwise installation was fairly simple. Hanging the tv onto the mounting pole, after installing the mounting plate to the back of the TV, is tricky (the hooks are small), as is adjusting the height of the TV, which might mean dropping the TV if one is not careful to always keep upward pressure on the top bracket (that the TV hangs from).It’s also true that the bolts and spacers didn’t work for my tv, which has some deeply inset vesa mounting holes—the short bolts with no spacers could barely catch a thread, the longer bolts were too short with the long spacers, or too long with the short spacers. I had to purchase the correct lengths at the ‘orange’ hardware-store chain (M8x20mm, or longer if you are using any of the spacers).Aside from the TV angling downward (which I ‘fixed’ by wedging a ~7.25” long piece of 1”x2” board between the previously-mentioned horizontal bolt and the hooks on the vertical part of the mount), the TV is also not perfectly horizontal due to the TV internals being unbalanced. So I hung a metal pipe (counter-weight) from two of the TV’s mounts leg-mounting points (after removing the legs) on the back side of the TV that was higher—that seemed to help even it out, for the most part.Again, I don’t need/or use the mount’s storage function so I’m not worried about the pipe or wedge falling off. Just ensure you mount the counterweight securely and don’t exceed the weight limit, if you go that route.If you have the space for a larger and sturdier TV mount, or don’t want the regret/hassle, then skip this one or else you’ll find yourself Jerry rigging ways to correct its shortcomings, which then compound your inconvenience by negating some of its features.

I used this to mount an outdoor TV in the doorway of a barn. It seems well-built and comes with lots of hardware for its easy mounting, at least when it comes to wood beams. It folds up nicely with a little notching effect to keep it secure.
