1791's lady Women's Victorian Rococo Dress Inspiration Maiden Costume

I purchased the red gown in size XXL. I'm actually stunned by what a nice costume this is for the price. The seams were all stable, and it fit as expected based on the size chart (a bit large, since I can always take it in). The finishing isn't as nice as you'd see with a more expensive dress. For instance, the front trim that borders the center panel is a flat piece that is serged rather than folded and sewn into the seam. It's perfect for a costume party or movie cosplay though. I'm actually considering purchasing a second dress to take apart to use as a pattern in more period appropriate fabric. Note that you will need to purchase a hoop or crinoline to achieve the look shown in the product photos. It looks nice even without a hoop, just different from the photos.

I wore this dress for a Marie Antoinette Halloween costume and loved it! I got this dress is a small and it was the perfect size (I teeter between a medium and small and went smaller based on the reviews). To have the full effect, I’d suggest getting a petticoat and pannier for underneath. That really made the look. The fabric is soft and high quality, it felt like cotton. I ordered the pink version as well and did not like it AT ALL. The fabric was bad, the fit was weird in the arms and chest, and the neckline was too high. I cannot say enough about the blue version, it was lightweight and a great fit! My arms were a little tight, but nothing that was too bad.

I bought this for an 18th-century cosplay project I'm doing. This dress is absolutely STUNNING in real life and even prettier than in the photos! The fabric is good quality, with the white/blue flower print being cotton, and the navy blue center fabric is a lightweight satin with a printed paisley design. The colors are gorgeous, and the fit is wonderful too! My bust is a 32D and I'm wearing this with a 22-inch corset. When I tried everything on, it all looked amazing together and fit perfectly. With my body shape, it's extremely rare to find a well-fitting garment off the rack that doesn't require alterations, but I'm happy to say this dress is a huge win when it comes to the fit and won't require any tailoring! Note: The dress requires a petticoat with pannier-style hoops to create the skirt shape in the photos. Without it, the skirt will drag on the ground and look flat. But panniers can be purchased here on Amazon for around 20-30 dollars. It's best to get one with a ruffled petticoat over the hoops to create a smoother, softer look without any lumpy hoops showing through. I bought the "FINGERINSPIRE 59.8inch Victorian Hoop Skirt Petticoat Double Ruffle Petticoat for Theater Rococo Style" from here and it fits perfectly under this dress and boosts the skirt to about 1 inch from the floor. Any standard-sized pannier hoop petticoat should work with this. Amazon has plenty of brands of them. On a final note, I'm SO happy with this dress, I ordered another variation of it from this same company but in the lighter blue flower print. They're both beautiful, but out of the two, this white/navy blue version is my favorite! That navy blue gives it certain regal elegance that feels like something Marie Antoinette would have worn. If you have a shapely body type, this style is flattering because it's made to fit a feminine shape more than a super-skinny body type. For reference: I'm 5'2 in height, and I wear an American dress size 4 to 6. So, I'm nowhere near plus-sized, but I'm not exactly 'skinny' either, especially in the bust, hips, and rear end areas...If this sounds anything like your body type, this dress will look AMAZING on you!

Costume is gorgeous, however, if you are very busy, be aware that the fabric has no stretch or give. I ordered the largest size and I was still pancaked in in the bust area. Ended up with alterations and it's so beautiful and a dream to wear! The material isn't super thick, and you will need a crinoline or petticoat underneath as it's a but see-through. It's not at all uncomfortable, about the same as a structured Halloween costume. I only took a star off for the sizing due to being restricted for the busty ladies. Perhaps I corset would have helped.

Perfect for our annual Hootin an Hollarin queen pageant! Quality is great. Material thickness is excellent. My daughter was very comfortable. The color is as described! Sizing is spot on. Dress is not stretchy but is adjustable.

Absolutely gorgeous! Great attention to detail. The top layer is separate from the skirt underneath, which is unusual and more authentic. It has a zipper on the side along the torso, which helps it fit better. The only thing that disappointed me was at the material feels pretty artificial. It looks great, but it’s definitely not cotton or anything they would have used in that time period. But it will probably hold up better. Overall great value for money. I almost feel guilty. Whoever made it probably didn’t get paid a lot. I got an extra large and I will have to take in the bust a little bit to make it truly fitted, but it looks OK. I am 5’3” so it’s a little long, but with the pettycoats, it shouldn’t be an issue. My measurements for Reference: 36DD Top of shoulder to top of hip 20in. Waist 39 in. Hip 48.5 in. Arm 24 in (tip of finger to armpit) Shoulder width: 19 in. Shoulder circumference: 45.3 in.

It wasn't what I was looking for, but I'm sure the picture may help with sizing. I am 6ft 2in. The dress had good length and didn't fit too badly. The dress quality was better than most costumes but not thick enough to wear as an outside dress.
