Possibly anodized aluminum. Part of what bar ends are for is to protect the bike when it goes down I don't feel like this is 1) heavy enough to help with stability and 2) not get grinded away. Kawasaki 500 has a pretty rough bar end to get off and has a thread on the inside. The screw provided with this bar end is too skinny and the hole is way too skinny as well.
