Excellent book about one of the most successful teams in modern history
Book Review: How to Win the Premier League"How to Win the Premier League" offers a fascinating peek into the strategies and behind-the-scenes intricacies of elite football. The book dives deep into the methodologies employed by top-tier teams, providing readers with an insightful understanding of what it takes to succeed at the highest level of the sport. One of my favourite aspects of the book is its comprehensive exploration of the tactical and mental aspects required to achieve success in the Premier League. It successfully captures the relentless drive and strategic planning that underpin the game at this level, which I found both enlightening and engaging. However, the book does have its shortcomings. My major criticism is that it predominantly presents the perspective of a single team. While this provides a thorough analysis, it does leave readers wanting insights from a broader range of teams and their unique approaches to the game. This singular focus could limit the breadth of understanding for those seeking a more diverse analysis.Overall, "How to Win the Premier League" is a compelling read for any football enthusiast, offering valuable insights despite its narrow lens. I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars, recommending it to those keen on understanding the mindset and tactics that drive success in professional football.Rating: 4/5

Excellent reading
I’ve read a few books about football data, but this one I found to be the most compelling so far. I’m not an analyst, so I find it hard to get too excited about percentages and decimal points, but what I do find interesting however, is not so much how the data is calculated but how its been used to make real-life decisions in football, and what could be next, and in a similar vein to the equally great book ‘Expected Goals’ by Rory Smith, ‘How to Win the Premier League’ details plenty of evidence, some of which is very surprising. It’s an extremely well written and thought provoking book, and a revealing insight into the data revolution changing the beautiful game.

Interesting and accessible
Very insightful book which gives a real behind the scenes view if how data in football works beyond transfermarkt and fbref level statistics usually available to fans. It has also given me several useful ideas for exploring data use in my own management role and changed my way of thinking about results and form. Will challenge your preconceptions and keep you engaged all the way through.

brilliant
This book shows the value of data in football. It is not a panacea. You are still more likely to win with Lionel Messi than without him . It does show how to get the best out of a Messi and what is his transfer worth. It still shows that things are probable not certain. Tremendous insights and I shall watch football with more knowledge and pleasure. Very well written.
