Mizuno Women's Wave Momentum 3 Volleyball Shoes

After trying on and testing multiple volleyball shoes, my daughter chose the Mizuno Wave Momentum 3, and we couldn’t be more pleased with her decision. As both an outside hitter and defensive specialist, she needs a shoe that excels in both agility and support—and these deliver in spades. The first thing she noticed was how responsive they are during her jumps. As an outside hitter, she relies on quick bursts of speed and explosive jumps, and these shoes really help with both. The cushioning and energy return in the midsole give her that extra push off the floor, making her jumps feel higher and more controlled. Equally important for her role as a defensive specialist, the grip on these shoes is outstanding. She can plant her feet firmly on the court for digs and quick lateral movements without worrying about slipping or losing traction. The Wave Momentum 3’s sole provides incredible stability, even when she’s moving fast in all directions. Beyond performance, the fit is perfect—true to size with a snug but comfortable feel, so there's no slipping or discomfort during long practice sessions or tournaments. The durability of the shoe has been impressive as well; they’re holding up well through both high school and club season play. Overall, these shoes have been a game-changer for her on the court. They check all the boxes for anyone playing multiple positions and looking for a top-tier volleyball shoe—excellent grip, great jump support, and long-lasting comfort. Tight on the ankles, but wide on the front part. I have wide feet so the front half of my feet feel comfortable. I guess it’s good that the other half is tighter so it makes it feel more secure. Don’t know if it actually makes it more secure, but it is what it is. I’m not too bothered by it because it’ll expand eventually. Feels stable too when jumping and doing lateral movements. It’s lightweight! And traction is good. Overall I’m glad I splurged a little for this. I tried the Asics Netburner Ballistic but damn that was too narrow. It is as lightweight but this somehow feels more stable. Mizuno is always an excellent (quite frankly, always the better) choice. I’ve played volleyball for 23 years now and I always find Mizuno to offer the best shoes for me. Why 4 stars? Maybe because of the ankle/heel side feeling tighter than the front part of the feet. But like I said, eventually it’ll expand. It’s just uncomfortable at first.

Rarely leave reviews. Would give a 0 if I could, to mizuno as a whole right now. I’m beyond irritated at Mizuno. I play volleyball 3-5x per week, commentate college volleyball, and am generally highly involved in the sport. Mizuno has shifted to unisex shoes which have a totally different sizing and for than women’s. Quite simply, they don’t work for me. They fit terribly and as a result are hurting my Achilles. The women’s fit wave lightning (my go to) is not available anywhere. So I bought this shoe—jokes on me! For context: I have worn a mizuno women’s 9.5 shoe for two decades now (circa 2005 and on). My current shoe I’m playing in is mizuno wave lightning z6 which sadly has been discontinued. The only shoe I can find that’s comes in women’s—not unisex—is this disgrace. Bought the wave momentum (not lightening, bc can’t get it) women’s 9.5, a confirmed inside the shoes they’re marks US women’s 9.5, and it’s GIANT. I’ve been a 9.5 in mizuno for 20 years, and wear a 10 on new balance running. This shoe is WILDLY BIG. Whoever sized this can’t count or measure. My teammates who wear volleyball women’s 10/10.5 size fit in this clown show and said they still room. I hate to say this bc I’ve been a loyola mizuno wearer for decades—they’ve fit best, the work well for me— but this is the third strike out on a shoe since the wave lightning z6 was discontinued. I’m strongly considering switching brands if the mizuno wave lightning or an equivalent properly sized and fitting shoe is no longer available.

Beautiful shoes. True to size. Roomy in the forefoot. Well padded and stable for court play. Looking forward to trying them out! From unwrapping the scream quality and should last for some time.

Onto my 2nd pair of wave momentum’s - nothing wrong with the first pair, I just love them that much :) Eye catching colour, played in them right out of the box (no need to break in). Copied from my first review - Your feet (and a bit of the ankle) are cushioned, secure but not restricted. Its like wearing a snug sock! They’re lightweight and kind to wider feet. I’m not sure how well they fare for shock absorption but as a setter I can appreciate that the soles still have traction respond to direction changes even after a year of playing 3-4 times a week (though to be fair we missed out a couple months due to 2020).
