Feels comfortable and solid but needs extra tlc
I was going to give 3 stars...but I do really like it. First the downsides.... 1) The wood is called 'fir' but feels very very light....at the balsa end of the pine woods I would guess. Hence it will absorb water and rot easily if left exposed and untended. 2) As sold the arms don't actually fit to the body properly...the slots on the under side of the arms for the arm supports are about 10 to 12 mm off where they should be. But both of these I rectified quite easily by 1) varnishing with 3 coats of Yacht Varnish to protect against Yorkshire rain and will cover in winter. 2) for a few £ I bought M10 spacers to align the arms as shown in second photo. I used 10mm but 12 may be better. Now, the upside 1) I've seen the apparent same swing seat for £60 more on other sites. 2) It looks good especially varnished as in the pic. 3) The seat depth is greater than my previous swing seat and makes it much more comfortable. 4) All fixings are high quality. Note the chains in the photo are my old chains, the ones you get are nice and shiny and bright. 5) It feels nice and solid to swing on. To be fair this is advertised as a porch swing seat so not sold as weather proof. If they corrected the design or included spacers in the package then I would got to 5*. NB the frame in my pic is one I had, not included.
