Sopito Stainless Steel Wire Cheese Slicer with 3 Extra Wires, Copper

This is the second time I've bought this cheese cutter. The first one came apart and became useless. The wire piece fits into two slots and is held by a screw on the other side. After time, the screw got lose and fell out somewhere and got lost. It is a tiny screw. For a while I managed to put the wire into the slots and just hold the cutter so that the pressure is in the direction of the slots. It cut cheese like this for a while. Eventually I got tired of doing that, and I bought another one, a different one. That one had plastic where the wire connected, and that eventually broke. So, I bought the old one again. However, this time I know about the screw holding the wire. It requires a micro Philips screw driver. This time I will check it from time to time to make sure it is screwed in tight. Other than that, I really like this cutter. I bought two of them this time. For $11.39, it is well worth it. These also come each with 3 extra cutting wires. I've already use it on my block of muenster cheese, and it works perfectly. It has screw tighteners for each side to adjust the thickness. I've heard complaints about this, but I don't mind it. I've had those that adjust thickness with just one adjustment knob, and it is a little easier. However, I've had those break on me also. This cutter adjusts both sides real tight for any thickness you might want. I got it to cut some razor thin pieces. It helps to let the cheese soften a little, but it will cut through solid cheese right out of the fridge. Great cheese cutter.

Works wonderfully, even on hard cheeses. I haven't needed one but love that there is a replacement wire if I ever need one.

Pros: 1) Metal frame, metal roller with small axel / mounting point, heavier than most. 2) Easily replaced wires, "adjustable tension". 3) Adjustable roller position / slice thickness. 4) Maintenance / wire installation instructions included. Cons: 1) Heavy metal frame - many will (as my wife did) find that the frame / handle weight will be enough to make it a bit unwieldy / tiring if you are setting up for more than a quick snack (i.e. setting up a cheese tray for a party / reception) 2) "Adjustable tension" not really. With the screws fully into the wire mounts it is just tight enough to use until the wire breaks (more on that later) or loosens and needs to be replaced. Also the "loops" in the wire ends vary in size so some wires are not really tight when first installed, others during use the loop compresses and wire becomes too loose to get a 'flat" slice. 3) Adjustable roller position. The wire is "under" the roller / handle, rather than mounted to the front / tip like many others. Harder to estimate slice thickness that way. Also, as many others with separate "hub screw" adjustment of both sides of the roller, good luck getting a slice that is not tapered. 4) Some of the wires are a bit short, so instructions on installing do not always work. But if you remove one of the axel / hub pins allowing the roller to be completely removed, a gentle squeeze in a vice (wood or plastic blocks over jaws recommended to not scar the handle) will make installing easy. So, all that being said, would I recommend this item? At the price I paid (approx. $10) - absolutely. The only time we actually broke a wire was when we tried to slice a hard "sharp" cheese without letting it come to room temperature. (Also need to remember to adjust your speed to the hardness of the cheese. One of these days someone will put the roller in a separate frame with SIDE GUIDES (to make sure slices are flat / even ) inside the main handle, and a single lock screw to hold the setting. It would look similar to several of the "under $10" ones but would use machined components instead of cast "pot metal". When that happens I'll buy one, but until then this is my hand cheese slicer of choice. Edit 02/22/26: Could not find a way to buy replacement wires after having used the last of the 3 spares. Item listing still said "3 spares" so we simply bought a whole slices w/spares, but the slicer we received now did not have 1 installed. It came with just three in total. The first wire we installed survived just long enough to get past the return window, and NOW we find the others did not have their mounting "brass" correctly attached so they slid right out - useless. And too late to return. So now we are looking for a better brand at a reasonable price.

It's a good build with solid material that feels good and stable in your hands as you use it. I also love that it comes with extra wire and that it is adjustable for the thickness of cheese that you're cutting. Super easy to use, super easy to clean.

Works well on the few types of cheese I have tried it on. Nice comfortable handle!!

Good price but lacked quality. keeps falling apart while using

I have this slicer and generally like it. It has weight and is adjustable in thickness. I would give this a much higher rating but for one thing - you cannot buy replacement wires from the company. That means you have to throw the item away after the wires break. It is a disposable item, which is a shame. I did manage to find some replacement wires that say they will fit, but for a company not to supply replacement parts means the product is worthless in many ways. Companies who don't support their products or their customers should be avoided. UPDATE: Sopito customer service contacted me about the replacement wires. They were kind enough to listen and may add additional wires to their product line. That would be smart in my opinion. The slicer itself is really nice. But without replacement wires, it is disposable and that is not a good thing. Time will tell if they add the replacement wires to their product line. I sure hope so.

This is a great cheese cutter. The wire was easy to install and keep clean. Come with extra wires. Cuts all kinds of cheeses. I recommend this product!

This cutter is very sturdy and is very good for soft to medium soft cheese. It comes with extra wires in case they break. If I had to, I would buy it again.

Good quality works well easy to clean bit bigger then my old one extra cutting wire a good to have I like block cheese for grill cheese 🧀 so I want all the same thickness and this does the job
