So easy, so tasty
Great product. Delicious soup base in no time. Throw in a little seaweed and scallion and a can of curried mussels and you have a quick treat. Little packets perfect for 2.5+ cups of broth.

Clean Dashi Stock
I was on the hunt for a clean Dashi stock to shut up a craving I had. I didn't realize that I would be embarking on an impossible mission. I live in a large city, but until I found Gremlin's Dashi stock on Amazon, I was coming up short. Sure, I could find dashi, but they all had MSG or other additives. Gremlin's is both additive-free and MSG free; not a single ingredient is questionable. This one really delivers. It produces a rich umami broth with just one little packet. It's super quick to prepare and easy too. Seriously, my kids can make this. It's packed full of minerals and, following TCM principles, nourishes the kidneys. I'm so happy I found this and will definitely reorder when I run out.

Won't go wrong making this purchase! Delicious soup stock base and lower in sodium than most others! Easy to use packets, fantastic flavor makes this well worth the money. Try it, you'll love it. It's my favorite go-to for my Saimin noodles!

No additives
This product makes very good dashi stock for soup/noodles. As a rule of thumb I try to use only products that don't have a lot of additives so I love the fact that this is made with only seafood and mushroom ingredients and no added salt or MSG. Highly recommended.

Too salty
The aroma is great but a little too salty for me. I made miso soup as usual and came out very salty I had to add more water.

Such an easy and convenient way to make dashi.
I switched to using these dashi packets as the price has risen considerably on the individual ingredients and gotten to be difficult to find here in Idaho. Simmered and steeped, these are convenient, and as easy to use as a tea bag! This soup base is perfect for miso soup, nabe pot, and all my dashi needs. The ingredients are well balanced and free of unwanted preservatives and stabilizers. Each packet can easily make 3-4 cups of good tasting dashi. Made in Japan and I appreciate that Amazon warehouses these.

Delicious dashi
I agree with all the 5-star reviews here. This is a delicious dashi. I've already bought 5 of these this past year. I wanted to leave a review to help with the instructions: with dashi, the steeping time and the amount of water needed will vary depending on the recipe you use. For a simple miso soup, I use 1 packet for 2 cups of filtered water. Steep in water that's just getting ready to boil, but not fully boiling, for 2 minutes. Remove the packet and then add a tablespoon of miso paste. When making a soup broth that's going to have added soy sauce and mirin (for example), I use 1 packet for 4 cups of water. Let the water come to a true boil, then steep for 2 minutes. Remove the packet and add the rest of the soup ingredients. The difference: dashi that steeps in almost-boiling water comes out sweet and very mildly fishy. But dashi that steeps in true boiling water has a stronger fish flavor imparted. And the longer you let it steep, the more fish flavor you get. Hope this helps!!
