Very grippy.
Update: I’ve upped my review. As I would run my fingers on the non laser etched area I would feel rough areas. It wasn’t bad, it was just there. Yesterday I put 2 coats of Watkins teak oil on the sticks. I just rubbed it in with a paper towel. What a difference that made. The whole stick no longer feel rough in places, they are still really grippy (the feel is better, and they respond faster), and they look better, the etched really jumps out now. I wish I could add a picture, but there is no add picture button.I find that the fulcrum point for the best rebound is between the letter d and b in diamondback.I’ve ordered 2 pairs of these. The 5b and 5bxl, 5b came today, and the xl will be in 10 days. First impressions. It’s so grippy that it is slowing down my speed, but I’m already starting to get used to them. I think I’m really going to like the grip once I’ve used them for a month. On my Zildjian birch which is very slick, I am not noticing any negative control issues going back and forth between the two. The only real negative is that I notice more vibration coming up the sticks than any of my other Zildjian (birch, hickory), Tama (Japanese white oak), or Promark (fire grain hickory) sticks.

I like the grippines
I have bought a few of these because they do offer an improved grip surface - which may be a bad thing for hours of hard-hitting professional playing, but for me as a casual player the design works. They are a bit light for the 5B size.
