E30 Owners - This book is NOT for you.
I am restoring a 1990 E30 325iA Convertible. It's mostly mechanical stuff that needs replacing, so I thought this book would be a good companion. It's unfortunately not and I am retuning mine. This book is almost exclusively written for E36 projects. There si really only one project I can remember specifically written for the E30 ... timing belt repalcement. Control arm repair instructions initially look like they are for both models, but then again the E30 control arm mounting points are much more difficult to reach (passenger side) than those on the E36, so no help here either. If you know the 3-series, you know that the E30 and E36 are VERY different. The articles often indicate "For all years", but that is a long stretch in my view. Most projects and the tips and tricks mentioned are not applicable to the E30. All engine project pictures are for the E36 M50 VANOS engine and not for the E30 M20 six (except the tming belt project pictures). Interior shots and drive train photos are also all from the E36 ... no E30 help here either. I just did my brakes all around and there are significant differences.I find this book not at all helpful for my E30. So be aware and informed about what you are buying. I personally think the title is very misleading. Don't get me wrong it is a great book ... but really only for the E36 owner. On top there is the very good "Bentley" repair manual specific to the E30 (available for other BMW models too!). No reason to get this book if you already have the Bentley. Or get the Bentley and you have a manual specific to the E30 and much more helpful. The author should call it what it is ... an E36 projects book.

Excellent companion to the Bentley manual...MUST BUY if you have an E36!
I have already extensively used this how-to guide for a number of repairs on my recently acquired E36 328is. The finer points of WHY coolant changes are necessary on a regular basis and how to do them is explained in tremendous detail (and is worth the price of the book, IMO). If you have an E36, you MUST get this book. It explains some stuff better than the Bentley manual.

Worth having despite it's flaws.
Any BMW enthusiast who owns the models covered should own this book. It's informative, as several of the tips and photos help fill in the gaps from other tech sources. But it also suffers from a damaging flaw: it tries to include too many projects for too many cars, and as a result, the information tends to be generalized and vague. There is a big difference between a BMW E30 and a BMW E36, yet this book tries to explain something like a brake job for both models in the span of two pages. You just can't do it and be clear and complete in the process.Still, it's a good read and a great starting point for your projects. Just be sure to have a Bentley repair manual by your side when you actually get the wrenches out.

Great for E36 and Very Helpful for E30
I am a rookie with a toolbox.I bought the bound volume to support the author. I had used his online articles hosted by Pelican Parts several times, so I thought it would go ahead and buy the book.I like the write-ups and the photos (especially the photos) in this book more than any regular repair manual I have seen. The proper Haynes manual is a good companion for specs, still. But with this book I "get" the job more than I do with others. This is best for an E36 owner, but I have been using it to work on E30s and E21s and it really helps me see the way to things I can't get from the other manuals.

Good but not for E46
I have an E46 not realizing that this book covers the other model. There is some cross over and what is good about this book that it stirs up what repairs and modifications can be done. There are photos and list of tools needed. The only thing that would make this complete is more photos, diagrams and step by step instructions. For the newbie this is a good book for all around information. Please make one for the E46..... Maybe I will do one but I am not adventurous to overhaul my engine.

Books aren't dead.
I'm the type of person that wants to watch everything on YouTube or browse the BMW forums...but this book is a must have. Over 200 pages of high quality images and a decent enough explanation on how to change the part and WHY you should. Quickly addresses the myths of what parts add power and what ACTUALLY helps. A must have for every E36 owner.

Excellent work.
I bought this book originally to help guide me on performance upgrades for my 1995 BMW M3. What I discovered was a vast collection of well written guides for everything I could possibly want to do with my car. Unless you are retired or in high school, you will not run out of weekend projects to do with this guide. Currently working on replacing clutch with STS and maybe new exhaust. Would not attempt either without this book. Excellent work.

Good item.
I recently purchased a 1994 318is, so I got this and a Haynes manual. The color photos are nice, and the material is easily understandable. Covers both basic and advanced projects. Between this and the Haynes, I usually can figure it out. If you plan on doing most of the work yourself, this is a good addition. BTW, the shipping from smokymtnbooks was a tad slow, but the item itself was in good shape.

Replacing headliner
The information wasn't as detailed as l thought it would be. Since l reviewed it on line l thought there was more details to come. There were some other interesting insights, good reading.

Una fregatura
Il prodotto è arrivato nel periodo specificato... non fosse per il fatto che la copertina e giusta e il contenuto interno e del tutto sbagliato e non idoneo con la descrizione
