Beware of shipping... I didn't receive filament.
I’m giving this filament five stars because I’ve used this brand many times and it has consistently performed beautifully. The matte finish is lovely, the colors are rich, and the prints come out with a clean, professional look that makes even my most eccentric creations appear as though they know exactly what they’re doing. In this particular order, however, I did not receive the filament at all. Instead, Amazon delivered a plastic rope rug, which was certainly unexpected and not especially useful for 3D printing unless someone has developed a very unusual extruder. That shipping mix-up was frustrating because by the time I processed the return, the double pack in these colors was no longer available. I ended up purchasing a four-pack of matte filament from the same brand in different colors, and it has been excellent, just as I expected. So while this review isn’t about the specific spools that should have arrived but chose another destiny, it is very much about my experience with this brand. Based on previous purchases, the quality is outstanding, and I would absolutely buy it again. Five stars for the filament itself, even if this particular shipment took a detour through the rug department

Immediate premium finish
This navy blue color is simply sophisticated. The matte effect leaves any piece with a professional look. Prints easily, without a headache and with great results. Ideal for those who want to raise the level of impressions. One of those purchases that you do and already want to repeat.

Defective roll - but happy ending.
Edit: 4/16/25 - I have to hand it to Elegoo support, they reached out to me on their own (I didn't message them) and offered to send me a replacement spool at no cost to me. I agreed and the new Matte black spool came. Same printer, same settings, and even the same print file in my Octoprint - and let me tell you it was way different this time - it worked. The matte black is lovely and does a great job at hiding the layer lines and making it look very high end/polished. Thank you Elegoo for giving me a chance to try your products again! First time purchasing Elegoo plastic filament. I have had lots of success with their resins for SLA printing, so they were a trustworthy brand. I needed some matte black PLA for some prints where I was trying to minimize the print line visibility without the need for sanding. I have no idea if I had a defective roll, but no matter what I did, I could not get the black matte PLA to melt. I started at the lower end of the temp on the roll (190) and was not able to get anything to come out. I upped it in 5-degree increments until I was at the high end of the temp showed on the roll. I went 10 degrees past that and stopped because I did not want to damage my hot-end. I automatically assumed I had some kind of hardware issue. Maybe my hot end was clogged or the thermistor in my Ender 5 Pro died. I could tell the stepper motor was advancing the filament because I could see the gears turning, but it was just grinding away the plastic, as it couldn't advance the filament because it would not melt. I swapped the hot ends (.4), swapped out the bowden tubing going into the hot end, and checked all sorts of things. After spending hours, I could not get this filament to MELT. Eventually, I swapped it out with another PLA and it had no issues. Swapped it back to the Elegoo matte PLA and couldn't print because it would not melt. This was my first time printing matte PLA, so I thought maybe this stuff is just extremely exotic and hard to print? I have no trouble printing ABS, but maybe this stuff is more hardcore? So, I did some searching and that was not the case. It should just print like any other PLA. I had ordered two rolls - so I opened the other roll, hoping maybe the first roll had some defect and the second roll would not print either. I ended up throwing both away. I purchased a matte black SUNLU roll, half expecting it to also not melt but it had no problems. This has made me nervous to buy Elegoo filament, possibly due to quality control issues. I was looking to buy transparent filament and they have the best price, but I can't bring myself to buy it. I already threw away $30 worth of filament. I don't want to throw away another $17. I have no problems recommending their resins, but I would be worried about buying filament again.

SAKURA PINK FILAMENT
I’ve repurchased this filament multiple times and it’s been very consistent. Prints come out clean with smooth layers and minimal stringing. I mainly use it for functional prints and small details, and it holds up really well. No issues with clogging or tangling so far. Definitely a reliable option if you’re printing often.

Great filament
Love the Elegoo filament! I have an Elegoo printer and use this filament often. They have good colors and the print quality is good and is always consistent. Would recommend this filament!

Good brand. Great prices.
Purchased quite a few ELEGOO filaments in various colors. Hard to beat their pricing and their filament is pretty good. Keep in mind they use cardboard spools and, for an AMS, if the spool is bent can cause some snagging. Would recommend this brand for the price, quality and selection of colors.

Very nice, but annoyingly stiff
TLDR: Dimensionally excellent, prints like any PLA+ given you have a hardened nozzle, except it's absurdly stiff and will bind or break if it's made to take a sharp corner. I got this spool on a whim for a flare launcher I was beta testing. Turns out it had been tried already and it was not the answer (PLA+ or PA6-CF are). So now months later I'm playing with it and making some low stress parts. My settings and setup: I'm printing on a Creality K1 SE at 230°C nozzle, 60°C bed, and between 250 and 300mm/sec for speed. Adhesion is perfect with simple glue stick and it's about the least stringy filament I've used to date so no changes to retraction or anything. The negative is the stiffness. I literally have to bypass the Bowden tube and run straight into the top of the extruder or it binds so hard making the last corner in the Bowden tube that I get frequent slipping and under extrusion. I'll absolutely love the parts that come from this spool, but it will likely be the last of it I ever buy .

Excellent Matte Finish PLA with Great Print Quality
This ELEGOO Matte PLA is very good, the print quality is nice and the material holds well. The matte finish really does deliver on its promise, creating prints with a beautiful low-gloss surface that makes layer lines nearly invisible. It's a huge aesthetic upgrade from standard glossy PLA, giving finished prints a more professional, refined look. The black and white combo in the 4kg bundle is perfect for having versatile color options on hand. The filament feeds smoothly without any clogging or tangles, and the neat winding on the cardboard spools works great. The dimensional accuracy is consistent, and I haven't had any issues with print quality or extrusion. It works perfectly with my Bambu Lab A1 Mini using default settings. The vacuum-sealed packaging keeps everything dry and ready to use. For the price on a 4kg bundle, this is excellent value, especially considering the superior matte finish you get. Highly recommend if you want prints that look clean and professional without post-processing.

Buen acabado, y algo de warping
Buen acabado mate, pero a mi me generó un poco de warping (esquinas levantadas en el modelo); nada que no se resuelva modificando parámetros de la impresión.

Consistent Quality Prints Time after Time
Elegoo Matt is my go to filament of choice. It prints amazingly in my Bambu X1C with very few print failures. Things it does great at. Bed adhesion - I have never had to worry about first layer issues with this stuff, if anything it manages to stick just a little too well, needing a little patience for it to cool before removing from the plate. Colour matching - I've bought quite a few rolls of similar colours are various time intervals over the last year or so since I started using it. The colours seem to match excellently with little variance. Whilst I'm reviewing the black and white here, I have quite a lot of the colour option and the same goes for all of them. It's my go to filament.
