The sound and/ or vibration work very well at three different levels, low, medium or loud. Overall it is very effective as an alarm especially if set to vibrate so it doesn’t wake up your roommates in a college dorm (I bought it for my son but now I want one too!) The pictures in the website are wrong, the bell is sound and the small ball with waves is vibrate. The huge advantage is that it lets you not depend o. your phone for the alarm, which sometimes doesn’t go off if you forgot to charge it.
