If the blade is 1095 hc as advertised why does it say 1077 on the blade?

That's just the serial number. Mine says 0743 on it. It's indeed 1095 steel and a magnificent knife.

what type of grind is on the blade?

High Saber Grind, and perfectly done secondary bevel at the edge... shaving sharp out of the box. And the spine is also very sharp with an exact 90 degree and all the way to the tip.
