wrapped like Jewelry. The little coal pieces are in the ...
Bought this as a Christmas present. It came in, wrapped like Jewelry. The little coal pieces are in the disk loose (I wondered if they were glued in or shook about). It has the paper in the image with the story about when they dug it, the number of the sample, and other little factoids that are pretty cool.Note the piece of paper is NOT the original certificate of authenticity, because this is a PIECE of a piece of authentic coal. That being said, it's a copy of the large piece these crumbles were taken from.It is real Titanic coal, and that's really cool...but it's not a bunch of it - as that's been bought up already.

Nice collector's peice & conversation starter!
This is a nice item for collector's or history buffs. The coin is pretty simplistic, with just a basic picture of the ship & 100th anniversary on the flip side but I got it for the coal anyway. That part is as advertised with the coal securely glued to the coin so it can be displayed as shown in the image. I did notice a few stray grains in the bottom of the plastic but nothing serious. If your looking for a unique keepsake of a historic event or a conversation starter this is it.

Great gift for the Titantic enthusiast!
My friend's Christmas wishlist consisted of the too expensive (iPad), unattainable (Broadway tickets for the hottest shows) and the impossible (a Titantic artifact). Or so I thought. I knew she didn't want a replica of any items and then I found out that the only thing able to be sold was the coal. Then I saw other sites selling minuscule bits of coal in crude little boxes that certainly didn't look like they were worth their price. Then I came across this. Fortunately, we were lucky enough to be in the 100th anniversary year and it is represented beautifully in this coin. That alone makes it a collectible, but to have the actual coal embedded on the other side took it to an entirely different level. Just the thought of holding an actual piece of that great ship is amazing. It a total shocker when my friend opened it and no other gift could top it (much to the chagrin of her husband, hee hee). I am the Gift Whisperer and this helped me keep my reputation intact.

Titanic Collectable
Our 11 year old son loves everything Titanic. We wanted to get him some type of collectable. After a lot of research, we decided to purchase this. It came in a very nice black velvet box. It included a certificate of authenticity. The coin itself was about the size of a half dollar. The center was clear hard plastic with granules of coal. He was very surprised to receive it and loved it.

Great piece to remember the Titanic
I actually got this for my son, who loves everything Titanic. It is a great condition coin with the image of the Titanic on the back. The coal side features a circle where they have glued remnants of a Titanic coal piece to. It comes in a sturdy plastic case so that the coal is not disturbed. The velvet jewelry case it came in was an added bonus. All in all, if you are a Titanic fanatic, this coin is worth the $30. Very pleased.

The coin is very nice, but the presentation box is junk
The coin is very nice, but the presentation box is junk. The "velvet liner" the coin rests on inside the box is a very thin and cheap piece of plastic that would most likely split if the coin was in there tightly and you tried to remove it. Managed to find a nice solid cherry wood single coin display ("H" type direct fit) case with a felt liner on an auction site costing very little. Fits this coin perfectly and makes for a much more professional presentation. Recommend the coin, but not the box that comes with it.
