Yes, over the summer, my little one finished one of the Famous 5 and one of the Naughtiest Girl! She loves them! We draw the main characters in the book, and she found out that how I imagine the characters and how she imagined is different, makes her think! I especially love the messages and morals of the stories I like my child to learn! Granted it is not the most diverse in physical character, but the personalities are! She is very attractive and has a good brain and they want her "To work hard, get good grades, be obedient, share with other children, be quiet, clean, have good manners..." At this, one thinks that this is not a modern idea of children. You may wish that more children were like this, but today's way of thinking of children is quite different. Manners? Quiet? Obedient? Work hard? Anyway, it's one way of looking at raising children back in the '40's and 1950's.
