Bought this to put a portable a/c unit in my garage. Very straight forward kit and comes with everything needed minus cutters. I am well pleased with the value and quality.

Note that the 8” vent is 7.2” diameter for the rear connection. I found out 8” duct is way too big and I assume 7” is too small. Also, the back end is super short and has a lot of plastic protrusions, which makes it difficult to connect and seal. I ended up putting an 8” ninety degree steel elbow above it, screwing 1.5” screws from the inside out to connect, then using a lot of aluminum tape on the inside to seal the big gap. Also, the mesh cover is not connected and can be easily pushed in, so I fixed it in place with a bead of hot glue on the back side. The front cover wedges in very tightly and does not have or need mounting screws. I think this product would work best as a vent that does not require any ducting/piping connection, such as a soffit vent or gable vent, since it has non-standard sizing in the 8” size. Overall looks pretty good installed

These little vents, are little, but work well and are easy to install. I used them to vent my new fart fans. ...I said fart.

This ventilation register has proven to be very practical and easy to install. Its simple and elegant design fits well in any space, and the materials seem durable. The airflow is adequate, helping to keep the room well-ventilated without any issues. I like that it is easy to clean, which makes maintenance simple.

...but both can be solved. The big one is that the spring tabs do not grip drywall, the only press against it. When attaching ductwork from the inside it falls out of the hole quite easily. Really problematic for ceiling applications. Here are some solutions: 1) Perimeter facial screws & sheetrock anchors (not pretty, but able to withstand a mild push). 2) A helper on the other side to push back when attaching ductwork. 3) Construction adhesive applied liberally around the base and the neck--requires a day or two to set up. 4) Cut the drywall at a sharp bevel to allow the spring tabs to open wider. Caveat: Rough handling can rip open the sheetrock. 5) What I did: used a right-angle, low-profile screw gun to drive three i-5/8" dry wall screws 1/2" into the perimeter of the duct neck at sheetrock level. Helper advised. The other problem is the inner plastic bug grill: Tight enough to thwart mosquitos or fruit flies, but a serious impediment to air flow. Once it gathers enough dust to clog, it can only be cleaned by removing the duct work from the inside--which usually involves cutting & replacing zip tie straps. My solution: trashed it. Alternate solution for accessible ductwork: improvise an in-line enclosure for a removable filter.

Easy install. Perfect fit. Bought 3 to replace existing soffit vents.

I purchased the 6" model. The inner grate would not stay by itself, so I didn't use it as I feared it would fall into the pipe I was trying to cover. I folded the fins by hand so that they would slip into the hole and snap back into place. It worked great. No need to screw it in place. Worked for my needs very well.
