One of them has a yellowy film that smells of coal tar ! What is best to wash it off with (detergent doesn’t seem to do much)

Mine had a very very slight sticky yellowy film but it was very slight. I just cleaned them with detergent, then through time it’s almost like it evaporated as it’s no longer there

No, I think the smell is the rubber releasing agent and preservative oils, the smell dissapates after a few days. At least mine did.
