Per AI, you must:first screw the entire pump mechanism tightly clockwise onto the bottle to create friction and leverage. Once the base is secure, press down firmly on the pump head and twist it counter-clockwise (to the left); it should click and pop up into the open position.I'm not quite sure why the mechanism needs to be this complicated, but it made me send a bottle back because it was not opening. I am not sure if did this procedure correctly or not at this point.Still, the lotion is fantastic, yet I wish there were zero preservatives. It is done for safety reasons I guess.
