INSPIRATION FOR THE THRILLING desertcart PRIME SERIES, JACK RYAN , FROM THE NO. 1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR ' A brilliant, enthralling read, I couldn't put this book down' 5***** Reader Review 'Action from the start right through to the final pages' 5***** Reader Review ______ The spies are being spied on . . . When Jack Ryan Jr, on a highly secret, off-the-books Campus mission in Turkey, discovers that his team's every move is monitored, he knows that US intelligence has been fatally compromised. Back in the States, President Ryan watches in horror as China's weakened leader bends to a war-mongering general intent on turning the East into a bloodbath. At the same time, America comes under cyber-attack from China, crippling government and military infrastructure. President Ryan needs to act: a covert team must go in and neutralise these threats, and the Campus is the perfect fit. Except a sinister figure known only as the Center is watching the Campus and Jack Ryan Jr's every move. Any wrong step might just be their last . . . ______ 'Exhilarating. No other novelist is giving so full a picture of modern conflict' Sunday Times Praise for Tom Clancy: 'Clancy creates not only compelling characters but frighteningly topical situations and heart-stopping action' Washington Post 'He constantly taps the current world situation for its imminent dangers and spins them into an engrossing tale' New York Times Book Review Review: Excellent read - Still haven’t finished reading this on my kindle. Review: A Definite Keeper - A solid book that improves on the previous ones. Finally the author spares the readers from his political views of the world, the plot is well thought out and almost believable and the characters are well defined - except for the opposition that never has any redeeming traits... I particularly enjoyed the slower pace at which everything moved. Turned the action more realistic and built momentum. All in all a definite keeper!

A Great, Must read!!
I definitely recommend Book 4 in this series, I've enjoyed the storyline, characters and have learned a lot about the different subjects written about. I always thoroughly enjoy reading a Tom Clancy book, there's always history to be learned, this book taught me much on contemporary history and politics. I look forward to the next one!

Another Tom Clancy classic.
Yet another high quality thriller by Tom Clancy. I am amazed that he was able to maintain the high standard of story telling that he established from the start of his writing career. This is a long book but it still seemed to be too short, I really loved. The plot is good, the descriptions and attention to detail excellent, the characters are well developed and overall these created my ideal read. I will miss Tom but thankfully some talented authors are carrying on his legacy. May they be equal to the task they have taken on.

Exciting, detailed, great read
All in all, it is not bad (I am only half way through though). The trouble is, and I am sure a lot of avid readers also realise, Tom Clancy did not write this (and neither did he write the previous 3 or 4 Jack Ryan series). All of a sudden, Jack Ryan Jr. becomes the first born? I am sure 'Sally' will not like that. Now that Tom Clancy is no longer amongst us, I wonder what the 'last one', Command Authority would be like. Surely, unless he came back from the grave, there would be no more Jack Ryan. Still I am sure those publishers will find a way to make money from TC's works (as least in name)

Clancy finds his Form
Threat Vector is a bit different from past Clancy books; over the series the story of the Ryan family went from a terrorist attack on his family; to over the course of several books multiple terrorist attacks on his Country. From small battles through Biological War to Ultrawar; and the last two The Bear and the Dragon and The Teeth of the Tiger portrayed a warfare and battlefield that was different to what we were seeing in Iraq and Afghanistan. Along the way; despite the vast lead character count, the books lost their soul - ceased being about a spy doing small things and became descriptions of how the USA could overpower anyway with its technological prowess. With the reboot bringing Jack Ryan's Son as a new analyst / operations officer at the blacker than black Hendley Associates; Threat Vector takes us back to spies treading softly; to risks behind every door and to characters living with paranoia. The old faces are there; to the point that the book has a 3 page character list before you get to page 1. At 700 pages I had planned to read 100 a day for a week and make it to the end. I finished in 3 days. The changing scenary; and fast moving situations lead me to chasing down the last 300 pages on the third day. As with all Clancy books there is a lot of setup and a snap finish; but with threat vector he provides a denouement settling the characters down and handing over the baton from Ryan Sr to Jnr. Threat vector is a vast improvement on the two books above; and provides a great story and look at how a war between technological superpowers might look today. If you like the Clancy of old the combined story with Mark Greaney has much to appreciate here.

A reasonable read but predictable.
Topical subject regarding cyber crime and how it could compromise all systems using internet and secure networks. In the last few days we have heard how Chinese hackers have penetrated the New York Times - reading this book makes that very scarey as to what could happen. The plot was to predicable and so were the outcomes - not exactly riveting or challenging.

Another Tom Clancy page turner!
Great read with several story lines all coming together with seamless effort to a dramatic conclusion. Time Clancy as his usual best.

Grande!

Fast paced thriller
Starts off slowly but grips you as it is advances. Seems more of a possibility than fiction. Must read thriller

Good read, easy and entertaining
Some long passages are too technical, the rest is fast and good at the end of a tiring day, very much as the usual Tom Clancy's novels
