A really great read it was so informative of what really happened on that day.It was also interesting to know about the other accidents that occurred around the islands over the years.Really enjoyed this book.

I live in Jersey, worked at Jersey Airport, and remember vividly this terrible crash. The author has researched the subject in great depth, and supplies a lot of background information which is totally new to me. Highly recommended.

Just east of Jersey airport, Channel Islands, UKThe author really has done his homework, lucky it is a hobby.The crash of a British United (CI) Airways Dakota, operating flight 1030X from Paris would prove to be the most deadly in Channel Islands aviation history.Twenty six of the twenty seven persons aboard died. Yes one young lady survived, the one flight attendant onboard, was pulled from the wreckage with two broken legs.Why did a respected, competent, skilled and reliable Captain attempt to land in conditions far below the allowable minimums as specified by his company?The author, a lifelong aviation enthusiast and former aircraft technician with a tenuous link to the disaster, delves deeply into the history of the airline. Recreation of the flight using available evidence, reading between the lines of the official report and investigation of the culture of flying within the airline all lead to a possible answer.As in most air crashes, a series of unconnected events combined to cause this one. A possible faulty instrument, compliance with the aviation rules of different countries and plain old airline economics all appear to have conspired against the Captain.Part Two of the book lists more than twenty other Channel Islands related aviation incidents, some more serious than others, but ultimately shows the incredible safety record of aviation in this beautiful part of the world.A sad part of Jersey history and especially for the flight attendant, who never really was the same.Four stars

A well written and researched book on this terrible air accident,it also loved the addition of several other commercial aircraft accidents connected to Jersey.

Such a good read

The history of the worst aircraft accident in the Channel Islands. Well written and no errors noted so far. It also looks at other CI accidents and points out how safe it is to fly.

I worked for BUA at Jersey airport at the time of this tragic event. This tragedy has been sensitively treated by the author with respect for the relatives and friends of those lost as a result of this accident. This book is well written and forensically researched with regard to the background to the accident, the actual event and the human aspect. The author has recounted an incredible amount of detail concerning the facts, the questions raised and questions answered. Technical detail has been incorporated and makes for interesting reading. Additionally, the author has included accounts of other accidents that occurred at Jersey airport over the decades. I highly recommend this book for a definitive, sensitive and detailed account of this tragedy.
