I was planning on giving this product 4 stars instead of 5 originally. However, its odor control and sweat protection improved drastically over time. The description claims that it can take a couple of weeks for it to start working, but it took a lot longer for me—about two and a half months. I’m now really happy with the purchase. It lasts a very long time, and I enjoy that it’s fragrance-free / unscented. It also doesn’t cause armpit stains like some other natural brands that I’ve tried since it has a clear consistency. I’ll still apply it up to a couple of times a day on days where I work out, but it’s worth it since the stick lasts long and it will block the smell. I have sensitive skin, and this product hasn’t irritated it. I’m not well-read on the effects of aluminum in deodorant, but it probably doesn’t hurt that this is aluminum free. Overall, I recommend this product, and I’m glad I kept giving it a chance until my body got used to it, after which it started working more consistently and effectively.

I've used Tom's of Maine Unscented Aluminum Free Natural Deodorant for over 20 years without any problems. When Tom's changed from the white containers to the green containers, they also changed the formula. The new formula makes my armpits break out in a rash. The rash started within 48 hours of using up my last white container and buying a new green container. One of these new ingredients is almost certainly responsible: Butylene glycol, Glycerin, Methylheptylglycerin, Propanediol, and Xanthan gum. Who knows which one? Doesn't matter; they've changed their formula and they're obviously not going back. So now after 20 years, I need to find a new brand. Here is the ingredient list in the old formula (white containers): • Propylene glycol • Water • Sodium stearate • Aloe barbadensis leaf juice • Glyceryl laurate • Humulus lupulus (hops) extract • Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil • Ascorbic acid • Cymbopogon flexuosus oil (lemongrass oil) Here is the ingredient list in the new formula (green containers): • Propylene glycol • Water • Butylene glycol • Glycerin • Sodium stearate • Aloe barbadensis leaf juice • Methylheptylglycerin • Glyceryl laurate • Propanediol • Xanthan gum • Cymbopogon flexuosus oil
