Are there any men that have had success with this?  (most of the reviews are from women)

I have been using the shampoo for close to a year.  Use it every other day.  I found using it everyday dried out my hair too much.  Anyway, never really thought much about it, certainly didn't think it would do much good.  After about the first four months of using it, my daughter who has always made fun of my thinning hair with a bald patch on my head, one day came up behind me to start one of her rants when she stopped midsentence.  She was actually speechless.  She said that my hair was coming back.  So yeah I think it does work on men.

Question 2

Some buyers posted about counterfeit products. The shampoo I got smells like mild lemon ginger tea. Is this how the authentic product should smell?

I have been using this for about 2 years and, unfortunately, there seems to either be a problem with counterfeit products or with product variation. You can usually tell the difference before even opening it which one you'll get, but I have had about three different conditioner formulations and four different for the shampoo. I have strong allergies and a sensitive nose so I know when something has changed. About 80% of the time, it's the good stuff that I receive (and the pump for these, as best I can describe, is wide and large, whereas the others use different, smaller, more narrow nozzles). Unfortunately, when I receive one of the other types, the scent is so strong and I have such a strong reaction to them with my hives and airway restriction that I have to throw them away and order again. The fact that I order again says a lot about the quality of this, but I have just received two bad batches in a row so I am about to complain.

Question 3

Is there a secret to opening the bottle pump? I was able to open the conditioner bottle but not the shampoo-tried hot water, tapping, even pliers

There’s no need to wipe it off, make a mess, or use any metal tools. Set the whole bottle down on a stable surface and unscrew the “collar” on the neck of the bottle so that the entire pump is free to lift up out of the bottle (just an inch or two is all that’s needed, keep the bottom of the pump inside the bottle to contain drips). Then use a napkin or paper towel to firmly hold the white/clear ridged plastic component underneath the collar—you need the napkin because otherwise it’s too slippery to get a good grip. And unscrew the *top* of the pump with your other hand. Then screw the collar back onto the neck and you’re good to go. The process can also be reversed if you need to close the bottle again for some reason (like travel).

What are the benefits of using the shampoo with the conditioner? as opposed to using another brand of conditioner.

I purchased less expensive conditioners to find out, and I haven't found its equal. This is the best conditioner (and shampoo, for that matter) that I've ever used. Not only does it make my hair look beautiful- shiny, smooth, glossy while doing away with my ever widening part- it smells beautiful. I wish I could find a shampoo and conditioner that costs less, but, so far, this is the absolute best of its kind.
