Review: It's certainly saved my calatheas, and I'll definitely keep a bottle on hand. - I actually bought this for a slightly different purpose than intended, and it's worked brilliantly. My calatheas are notoriously fussy about tap water because of the minerals and chlorine, and I was looking for a practical alternative to constantly collecting rainwater or buying distilled water. After treating my tap water with this conditioner and using it for watering my plants, I've noticed a real improvement. The brown edges that had been appearing on the leaves have become much less of an issue, and the plants generally look healthier. Of course, calatheas can be sensitive for many reasons, but improving the water quality has definitely made a noticeable difference in my case. The product is very concentrated, so only a small amount is needed each time, meaning the bottle lasts a long time. It also mixes into the water instantly, making it quick and convenient to use. I know this is marketed for aquariums, where its main job is to neutralise chlorine and chloramine to make tap water safe for fish. However, I've seen quite a few houseplant enthusiasts mention using it for sensitive plants with good results, particularly species that dislike treated tap water. Overall, it's been an unexpectedly useful product for my indoor plants. If, like me, you have calatheas or other sensitive tropical plants and struggle with hard or heavily treated tap water, this has been a simple and cost-effective solution. It's certainly saved my calatheas, and I'll definitely keep a bottle on hand.
Review: Amazing stuff - This is such phenomenal value that it's untrue! I pay £6-£7 for a 120ml bottle. This works out so much cheaper, and the bottle is so big that I imagine that it will last me a year or so. The top cap isn't clearly marked with small dosages though, so it's hard to use it for small water top ups, but that's a small gripe and it's not the end of the world. This bottle treats over 35,000 litres, it instantly removes chlorine, neutralise chloramines and detoxifies heavy metals in tap water, which can kill the fish in high enough doses. The only bad thing I can say for this is that it does create ammonia, as it converts the chlorine to ammonia and that's how it makes it safe, but that's a small trade off for safe fish and water changes. I really couldn't recommend this stuff enough, I have been using it for years now, I don't even remember a time when I didn't use it. It's very cheap on here, lasts forever and it does the job perfectly. Excellent product. Tip: Use the cap off the smaller 120ml bottles to put on this big one. It will allow you to drip it in rather than using the very inaccurate measurement top that comes with it, as the mesurements don't go down low enough for even my 400l tank. The old lids let you count drops which is much easier. If you don't have one, get yourself one! It will make your life much easier. I think even the tiny sample bottles use the same size dripper cap which you can get at pets at home for a few pounds.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: what is the difference between this and stress coat +? Can these 2 products be used together ?**
A: Tapwater conditioner contains different ingredients to strees coat,
as stated by API's material safety data sheet on thier website (pretty sure I can't add the links here)...

Tap water conditioner as stated by API's material safety data sheet on thier website contains Sodium Thiosulfate and EDTA Tetrasodium Salt.
the Sodium Thiosulfate removes Chorine and Chloramine , and detoxifies Ag (Silver)
the EDTA Tetrasodium Salt detoxifies Pb (Lead), Cu (Copper) and Zn (Zinc).

Stress coat plus, and pond stress coat's only active ingredient seems to be aloevera.....

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy instructions but use your phone to zoom in on small writing
*by D***W on 2 June 2026*

Fish are loving it. Simple to follow instructions if a little small to read. We just took a photo with the phone and zoomed in. Helps the fish when we have to do a water change for them as we live in a very hard water area
