Classy looking barstools!
Packaging was excellent. Instructions for assembly were simple, mostly diagrams, but surprisingly easy to follow. Every part (bolts, structures, even the allen wrench included, were all numbered. Instructions indicated which numbered part went where. A word of advice: instructions say "leave bolts loose until finished". Believe them! I tightened some of them while putting the first stool together and it was NOT fun. The other (loose) were a breeze. The stools are classy looking and comfortable to sit on. I would definitely buy again.

Perfect stools
We just love these stools. We've had stools at our island countertop for 5 years and thought they were fine. But we sat in these stools at a New Year's Eve party at a friend's house and fell in love with them. They are sleek and beautiful, inviting, comfortable, easy to swivel...there's something inviting and pleasing about them. When we got home, we hated our old stools. Ordered 1 of these as a test, and immediately ordered 3 more and we are SO happy. Assembly is simple, instructions are easy to follow, and they even include extra screws. The whole kitchen feels better with these stools! A great value, we couldn't be happier.

Quick assembly but packaging is substandard
First, the good stuff. The stools look good and they're sturdy. They go together in about 10 minutes, and only 1 person is needed (though 2 would make it even quicker). The screw-adjustable feet are a nice touch. Now the not-so-good.The printed instructions omit a crucial step to tighten the screws that secure the legs to the chrome foot rest. It's an obvious thing to tighten them, but I had to hunt a little to be sure I hadn't missed a step. There are no written instructions, just pictures. They're clear enough, but I wouldn't mind seeing some written comments along with them. They make a lot of assumptions, such as that the user will know how to align the stool's 4 legs before attaching the top and bottom metal plates that secure them in place.I ordered 3 of these stools in total. The first one I received was clearly a previous return. The screws and other hardware were tied up in a plastic bag, the included allen key was missing, and the vacuum pack of hardware had been torn open and casually discarded back in the box. Now this isn't a big deal for me, as I have my own tools for this kind of assembly. I do think either Amazon or the seller ought to be required to disclose if they're sending a returned item, though. I ended up keeping it despite some minor blemishes to the finish on the seatback because I didn't want to go to the trouble of disassembly, repacking and shipping, and I figure it's going to get dinged up soon enough anyway.I ordered 2 more as I like the swiveling seat and the sturdy build. One of the two I received had a broken seatback as shown in the attached picture. The Amazon shipping label was affixed to the bottom of the box instead of the top, which likely led to it being thrown around upside down, leading to the damage. This wouldn't happen if the stools were packed better. The manufacturer clearly took the cheap route, as only soft foam sheets are used for packing the components. This is sufficient for protecting the parts from bouncing against each other during transport, but they do nothing to protect the box from the millions of other items that are likely to be packed in a shipping container, truck trailer, or Amazon delivery van, nor do they offer any buffer against being thrown around by the Samsonite Gorilla, which I'm almost certain is the way these things are handled when they're being moved around. Some solid styrofoam packing or even some of those hard fiber corner braces would go a long way toward protecting the contents of the boxes during transport. I can only imagine how much it's costing Armen Living to ship replacements and pay for return freight, to say nothing of the fact the broken one will probably end up in a landfill (or worse). I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had this kind of problem. So, even though the stools are easy to assemble, comfortable, and sturdy, I'm deducting 1 star due to the failure to disclose that they shipped me a returned item instead of the new one I assumed I was buying, and 1 star due to the substandard packing that almost guarantees some degree of damage by the time it gets to your door.
