40.5mm Tulip Flower Lens Hood for Sony ZV-E10, Alpha A5000, A5100, A6000, A6300, A6400, A6500, NEX-5TL, NEX-6 Digital Camera that has Sony 16-50mm Lens, Alpha A7c 28-60mm Lens

I bought this to protect my lens instead of a polarizer for my 16-50 Sony kit lens. Overall, it does the job well. I would have to adjust the hood a couple of times as the hood rotated into view of the camera, but fixing that was quick.

The kit lens on my A5100 is the only lens I have that didn’t come with a lens hood. This was a quick and easy fix, and improves the quality of my outdoor shots on the rare occasion I use my kit lens.

The Lens Hood is useless at 38mm or less when use with the Sony 28-60mm lens on Full-Frame camera due to it creating a Tunnel effect, however at 40mm and beyond it goes away, but if you use it for Zoomed in portraits then its no problem. But not good for use with landscapes when you need a Wide-Angle view.I included a pic I took with the Hood on the lens set at 28mm.(Sony A7C with Sony 28-60mm at 28mm.)

I was advised to refrain from putting a lens cap on my camera when out and about for fear of losing a shot. Instead, I use this simple tulip hood to help protect the lens from damage while it also helps reduce glare. Seems well-made and I expect it will hold up well.

Having a hard time discovering why this is a useful thing to have for my camera. But, oh well, it wasn't too expensive.

I was unable to use this lens hood with my Sony Alpha A6000 camera because it caused dark edges (vignetting) to appear in my photos..I tried rotating the lens hood to different positions and this did not eliminate the problem.I also tried using the lens hood in the recommended position in which the two longer petals are at the top and bottom. This did not help either.The dark edges disappeared when I zoomed into what I was shooting, but reappeared when the lens was set at wide angle. This of course is a unacceptable limitation.Note that I used this lens hood with a UV lens filter, the B+W 40.5mm Clear UV Haze with Multi-Resistant Coating (010M), with the lens hood screwed into the outer threads of the UV filter. Perhaps this lens hood is not designed to be used with a UV lens filter.Some people do not use a lens filter to protect the camera lens from being scratched when using a lens hood, on the theory that the lens hood itself will protect the lens.However, I wanted the additional protection of having a lens cover to ensure that my camera lens would absolutely not be scratched.I did not try using this lens hood without the UV filter installed.
