I also made the U8g2 arm-linux port thread safe and super fast to drive multiple displays. I2C bus at 400 KHz can drive this display at 14 FPS without breaking a sweat on the CPU. Go with SPI version if FPS is more important. Use SH1107_I2C_PIMORONI_128X128 or SH1107_I2C_SEEED_128X128 for U8g2.
