I'm sure they are. The water did turn slightly brown & I hope these will help my corys recover from a disease outbreak & sulfa treatment. My bettas really appreciate these leaves, the tannins are enough that one leaf will be enough for a 10 gallon tank and if you really want to get as much as you can from them you can even boil them then add the tannin water after it cools. These have lasted us months and covered several bettas. I am currently preparing to order more.
