Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach Dry Dog Food, Small, 4 lb Bag

I was feeding my dog chicken flavored kibble and she wouldn’t stop scratching. It was so bad that she was making herself bleed and she even got a yeast infection in her ears from the constant scratching. I took her to a vet and they gave her an injection for the itchiness, ear medication and recommended this food. It’s been almost a year since I’ve switched her onto this food, and she doesn’t scratch anymore, hasn’t had anymore yeast infections & her skin looks great (no more irritation)! I would definitely recommend this food to anyone who’s dog is having scratching/skin issues.

Vet recommended and delivered the win we needed. High points for quality and value. 3+ years and counting, we would not change.

Best dog food ever. My golden doodle has no more gastric problems and skin is much better. Been using this for over a year now.

I was a bit concerned about people posting and talking about bugs and worms, I put the entire bag in a Ziploc clear bag so I could be able to see if they were any bugs or worms. I gave my Chiweenie a measured cup of this dog food and she ate it all in one setting. People need to understand that not all dogs will agree with this food. Just like people, just because somebody likes hot dogs doesn’t mean someone else will. So far I’m gonna get this a five star but I will update. I bought this because she had a little itching issue, she’s six years old, so we’ll see how it works out. As you can see in the picture, she’s fat and happy.

one of my small dogs always has skin issues, so my vet recommended this dog food. I started feeding this mixed with their regular dry food for all my dogs and they love the taste.

This is a great food for dogs with sensitive stomachs. I used this for years with one of my dogs and it was the only thing he could tolerate for a while. My dog always loved the taste and had a nice, shiny coat on it. The kibbles are small which are perfect for small dogs. I used to soak them in water in a slow feeder and they’d get soft easily. The only two reasons that I give it 4 stars instead of 5 stars are 1) the bag size decreased from 5 pounds to 4 pounds while staying the same price. That winds up creating a significant price increase! 2) there is a relatively high fat content (17%) that can be a bit hard for certain dogs with sensitive stomachs/pancreases. The fat content is similar to a lot of regular dog foods but if your dog has digestive issues/any other sensitivities, it’s just something to be aware of. I wound up having to switch my dog to something lower fat and his ultrasound normalized (as did his stool). The only other thing to be aware of is that the food does smell obviously fishy (it’s made of fish). If that bothers you or your dog, I would buy the lamb version.

I have a older dog whos about 4 lbs ans ia now 14 yeara old. About 2 years ago she went from being a chunky fat potato roll to almost skeletal out of nowhere. According to her vet she just decided she didn't like the dog food she was eating anymore! (Had been on it for 4 years!) So i switched it and while she did start eating again it was enough to put on enough weight that i no longer felter her hip bones and could barely feel her spine she was still underweight.. so to get her up to weight i started also feeding her wet food which helped a little and made me less worried she would die from malnutrition. I kept trying to find a new food for her that would help her gain weight back with out wet food (its hard to travel with wet food). I eventually found this. And on the very first day she friggin gobbled this down! I was ecstatic! And she has continued to eat this food no issues! Shes now at a healthy weight without wet food! P.s. my dogs are on a free feed diet so she Always Has access to food.

My dogs really like this product. It’s a great alternative some of the more expensive sensitive food options from pricier brands. It also comes in Lamb which is great because one of them has a chicken allergy.

This was a recommendation from our vet. My Shih-Tzu was suffering from skin issues and our vet suggested we avoid kibble with chicken by-product and chicken altogether and instead purchase this food with salmon and other ingredients that is soothing to the skin and the stomach too. We actually put our Pekingese on this food too because it is so healthy and he has stomach issues. Both of oir dogs have had improvements in their skin/digestion issues. My Shih-Tzu no longer has inflamed and itchy skin. We had to treat her with medication at rhe beginning as she was really uncomfortable but this food seems to have kept everything from flaring up again. She hasn’t had these episodes of red, itchy skin for a year or more now. I wondered if my dogs would like fishy kibble but they love it. My Peke will eat it dry and that’s very unusual. Typically they both like a little bit of wet dog food added (from same brand and line). It is a bit pricey but we have little dogs and they don’t eat big meals obviously. It’s cheaper than paying for vet medications that’s for sure so in our case, it helps our dogs and that is huge savings for us. A certain dog food can’t solve every issue but for situations like skin/stomach issues, it is definitely tied to food and if they’re happier with it, that is what matters most to me.

My 2 frenchies have allergies and this food helps. One of my frenchies also has gutt issues and it keeps him from having any kind of allergic reaction!

She likes it
