Arcturus XL Survival Tarp - Insulated Reflective Thermal Camping Tarp - 8.5' x 12' (Black)

I already owned the smaller Arturus Survival Tarp, but I wanted to get the XL version to have as an emergency shelter. It's HUGE!!! I removed the tarp from its sleeve (which is made of the same material as the tarp) and opened it up. It seems to be of very high quality and unlike lesser similar tarps, this one feels like it will last me for many years. Like the tarp material itself, the grommets are reinforced and feel like they will withstand some abuse. Due to the thickness of the material, it is heavier than my other tarps, but not overly so. I got the orange color which looks great with the black accents and will also make my position obvious if I ever need search and rescue (which I probably won't, but who knows?). Based upon the rugged quality, I am satisfied that it will be worth the price...this is a beast of a tarp!!! I am going to take it camping in a couple of weeks (Michigan in July!). If it's sunny, I will use stakes and poles to erect this into a lean-to shelter with the reflective side facing up. I think it will work well in this capacity. I am also a winter camper, so I will likely use it in the cold as a heat reflector by my campfire. Even though I haven't used this in the field (other than a couple of mock-ups in my house), I am happy with my purchase of the Arcturus XL Survival Tarp. The only con I've found so far is that once you remove the tarp from its sleeve, it's a bear to fold it tightly enough so it will fit back into it. The zippered sleeve is simply going to become a storage pouch for another tarp, I guess. If it doesn't perform during my camping trip, I will come back and update my review.

The Arcturus XL Survival Tarp is an absolute must-have for anyone who loves the outdoors. This tarp is incredibly well-made, with heavy-duty materials that can stand up to just about anything. Why did you pick this product vs others?: I selected this tarp/ survival blanket because it actually has a reflective side vs just being a grey color. It works! I was camping in a heat wave with no AC, and this tarp made a huge difference once I put it on the roof of the tent. I instantly felt a difference. It really did reflect the heat from the sun rays that were coming through the roof. It was still hot and humid here in the South, but big difference. This tarp will stay in my truck for future camping trips. I took 1 star away because the binding isn't sewn correctly, so the tarp isn't perfectly flat like it should be. It had some slight bunching. I haven't measured it to make sure the dimensions are accurate. I used it for the first time on this 4 day camping trip. It held up well. Overall, the quality is good for the price. I would purchase another one because of how well the reflective side works. I don't know how it does in high winds or rain yet.

First off, I’m always proud to support a locally owned business. I have a little experience with cloaks of this sort, whose existence is only recently starting to be revealed. A similar item has been used by the US military for some time now to defeat thermal detection and targeting systems. This ain’t the same but it works similarly by using the same principle; the real stuff has a quieter outer shell combined with extra layers of insulation to resist transferring heat to the outer layer. For a civilian option under $100, or $300 for that matter, this is nothing to scoff at. So, if you’re one of “those guys,” this and a woobie blanket can make you invisible to thermal detection in the field. For the rest of us, it makes for an excellent tent or shelter in the cold, wet winters of the PNW. With a single cord and a few stakes, you can have a 6’ x 8’ shelter that’s rainproof and will insulate you from the cold while amplifying any heat source. You can also create a “tube tent” at 4’ tall if you’re forced to bed down on wet soil. My only complaint is the camo pattern used on the XL blanket. I wish it used the same pattern as their standard size as its more convincing in the field. Despite that, the pattern used is still better than any solid shade if you’re trying to not be seen. Once the flooding from the Atmospheric Rivers of 2025 finally recedes and I’m able to visit my favorite camping sites, I’ll record some footage with my thermal optic to demonstrate its effectiveness in defeating thermal sensors.

Honestly AMAZING! We went camping in this summer heat, 93+ degree days. I bought an AC unit for our tent, but wanted something to block the heat. So I bought this tarp. Threw it over the top of the tent and it covered most of it. I had NO IDEA the impact that is made, until I took the tarp off of the tent when I started to put the camp setup away. The AC was almost useless without this tarp! Can’t recommend this enough! I’ve already told a bunch of people who love camping!

Great space blanket type tarp at a good price.

Bought these to go over the ends of my tent trailer as it was cheaper than buying two gizmos. I was impressed at how well they work! I have a queen bed on side and king on the other. These tarps fit over reasonably well and I used bungee cords to secure them to the support bars under the beds. The tarps each came with their own storage bag which works perfectly for storing the tarps in the trailer when not in use. 10/10 would recommend.

The expanded size space blanket is excellent. Its bulkier than the standard solo size but perfect for the vehicle or camp setup.

Bâche bien épaisse , j'adore son côté aluminium pour garder la chaleur et son côté camouflé fait bien son effet dans les bois . Elle mesure 355 cm x 250 cm . Il manque des œillets si vous voulez le monter en tarp , je trouve cela un peu juste , j'aime bien quand le tarp est sardiné dans le sol . ( SARDINÉ ) n'existe pas comme mot , je viens tout juste de l'inventer , comme cela vous comprenez ce que je veux dire . :-)

Llegó llena de moho y con fuerte olor a humedad. No pude usarla y se me pasó el tiempo para debolverla. Me parece que ya son viejas y sólo eran almacenadas.

I put this down inside a 6 person tent, it protects the tent floor from dog nails. It prevents condensation from wetting the sleeping bags/pads. It's more comfortable to walk on, sticks and stones under the tent aren't as bad. And it helps reflect heat so the child ground doesn't suck heat as bad. I also have a second smaller size that I hang from d the roof of the tent. It helps keep heat in, I can use a 3 season tent in the cooler months
