A new darkness threatens the people of Ethygas, one thought only to exist in myths and legends. But a plague of evil already lays heavy on the land. And only the Guard can hold it back, for only they can slay the demons that infest the land. During the summer festival in Hartin, Drowen, a Guard with special skills and a bright future, begins the hunt for another demon, a hunt that draws him into a quest to confront that darkness and protect the one he holds most dear.
