This means that when your dog tugs at the lead the resulting jar to your arms is somewhat cushioned. It's a great length gives you just enough length to keep the dog close by and under control while allowing it some freedom of movement.My favourite part of the lead though is the carabiner style clip that you use to attach it to a collar. The use of a spring-loaded lock mechanism that requires you to twist it about a quarter of a turn to unlock the spring arm is a stroke of genius.
