African Kalimba Mbira Thumb Piano Tuned by C Vambe

The media could not be loaded.  Delivered incredibly quickly, this is a lovely little instrument. The one I received had 23 keys (see pictures) and is more or less identical to the one shown in the picture above.I am no mbira expert, so take this with a grain of salt - it stretches the 23 keys across 3 octaves (from B to B - may vary with each one), with a couple keys tuned to a similar pitch. The tuning sounds a little off, but then again there may well be a specific tuning system that I'm not aware of (hear the audio below). Similarly, each one will likely be tuned slightly differently from when it was constructed. This is not a kalimba (often incorrectly used interchangeably), so don't expect it to be tuned exactly to the Western tuning system.The resonators react viciously to the lower keys, adding a very metallic rattle to the sound (you can dampen this with cloth if it's not to your liking). The keys are placed nearly in pitch order, with some odd ones out of place, but that might differ with each one.Nevertheless, it's fun to experiment with. You can listen to the audio where I will undoubtedly make a fool of myself trying to play it.

I think this mbira is good quality. Even though I am still learning to play, this one sounds like well tuned and ready to play
