I can't imagine bottling without a device like this.
Caveat: First time wine maker and I don't have anything to compare this to except my manual siphoning experience when racking our wine. This device is extremely handy. It fills the bottle and automatically stops filling when it's "full". "Full" is set by the user. An adjustable collar allows you to change the fill level as desired - though I used the setting right out of the box and it was fine for 750ml bottles. Once the bottle is full the wine stops flowing - though that's temporary unless you push the side buttons, which cuts off the wine flow and maintains the siphon. If you forget to push those buttons, and you will at some point, the wine will continue to flow as you remove the filler from the neck of the bottle. No use crying over a little spilt wine though...just remember to push the buttons before removing it from the bottle. A handy design makes it easy to restart the wine flow into the next bottle. Just insert the filler into the neck and push down on the top till you hear the click. Simple as that. The top cap is threaded so that you can adjust the amount of the flow. Loosening it allows more air and more wine flow. Tightening it cuts down on the flow. I messed with this a few times, but again, the setting out of the box is fine. On 1 of every 24 bottles or so, the cap on top would suck air and begin to leak a bit of wine. I'm not sure why this happens, but it never lasted and only a few drops of wine leaked out. This is a standard siphoning device. That is, you'll have to get the source located above this in order to establish a siphon. I put my carboy on the counter and this on a stool at a lower level. Worked great.

BUY THIS!!!!
If you have gallons of wine to bottle, this thing is GREAT!!! Easy to use, no real setup out of the package. Didn't have to adjust it to get a full 750ml bottle. The only thing you have to watch out for is filling the bottles too quickly. You'll get some gushing out of the vent hose has the air in the bottle is being displaced. Slow it down a bit and it works perfectly. Hooked the auto-siphon to it, started filling, ran thru 15 bottles in about 6-7 minutes with no spilling or effort.

Works great with some fine adjustment
It's been a bit of a journey for this filler. The first one I received had 1/2" cracks in the clear plastic portion so I opted for an exchange; 2nd one was fine. I spent some time testing with a gravity siphon and water. A lot of reviews stated how the filler will leak. Both of mine leaked. This is because there is an issue with the diaphragm between the clear plastic body and the red barrel piece with the release clips. To fix the tightness between the body and barrel needs to be adjusted. It cannot be too tight or too loose, and you may need to adjust it until you find where that sweet spot is. For me I tightened all the way down then backed off a little more than 3/4 of a turn and the leak stopped. Second challenge is cleaning it. It can be disassembled. The hardest part is removing the spring. With 2 people it is easy to remove the collar; one person holds the spring back and the other removes the collar. After that the whole assembly will be easy to clean and dry.

Ferrari fillers: just like the cars they look great but never work when you need them!!
Leaks like crazy. Don't buy it. Instructions are poor. In my first experience, I made the mistake of trying to fill the last half of a batch of red wine after I it was going well with a regular fill wand. I tried it with both types of cap, with and without spill hoses, but couldn't get it to work. Even spent a weekend on and off trying filling bottles with water and without the wine, and could not fill anything without an issue. I also agree with the comments from others warning against purchasing this Ferrari filler. The only thing that is automatic about these is how often you'll find yourself cleaning up after them.

Good News, Bad News
This Ferrari Auto Bottler is a great idea but a few flaws keep it from being the perfect answer to manual bottling. It can be awkward to secure the unit in the top of the bottle since it can be top heavy (bottle can easily fall over when you begin filling). Also, it isn't easy to adjust where the wine stops at the bottle neck. That part of the unit seems to be fastened on quite snugly so you might wonder if it will break before you make the adjustment. Finally, when and if you want to increase the rate of flow you may over adjust and find that the wine will ooze out of the hole near the top that adjusts the rate of flow. Perhaps the manufacturer can expand on their instructions to address each of these challenges. However, once you get use to using the tool it works fairly well. Seller is very accommodating and when I received mine in the mail with a crack in the unit, they immediately shipped me a replacement, no questions asked! Thank you for that.

Good but not great.
It works fairly well but I have found that if you leave it in the bottle to long after it stops, it will start to leak out of the top. I bought this so I could bottle and cork at the same time. At one point I took to long to get back to the bottle and it was leaking from the top around the flow control. It is quicker than using the bottling wand, but it is also a little messy. Be sure to bottle inside a plastic container or on a towel. 04/16/2015 UPDATE. I have quit using this. I went back to using the bottling wand, it is much neater/cleaner than the bottle filler. I would not purchase this product again and I would not recommend it.

Makes bottling very easy!
I use a hand pump and filter to bottle my wine. I constantly overfill and make messes. Saw this and put it to use right away. Don't know what the tiny hose on top is for, I removed it on accident and it works great without it. It not only allows me to fill without a mess but my bottles get filled to the same spot every time! Love it!

Great unit
This unit works great!. For a manual filler, it works very well, and easy to use. No leaks and cleaning is easy. I am using it to bottle wine. Fills quickly.

Takes practice, but works great!
The concept is simplicity itself, and functionally it is easy to use. That said, the shape of your bottle will play a MAJOR role in how rapidly you are able to fill. If the area around the point the wine or brew enters the bottle is narrow, rapid filling causes the air exhaust port at the tip to act like a vacuum and the device spits almost as much drink out the air exhaust as it puts in the bottle. With some panties and practice, you get a feel for how fast (i.e. the maximum rate) you can fill your bottles, and then it is a joy to use. The auto stop and siphon lock allowed bottling 23 liters of wine in about 1/2 the time a simple siphon alone. Every bottle filled to the same perfect height, and virtually no mess. Even clean-up was faster and easier. Currently I have one for reds and one for whites. When I start producing mead, I will likely purchase a couple more. Overall they are a great product, but the directions could be better detailed. I recommend a few practice runs with plain water and several of each bottle shape you use - less mess and no drink wasted. ;-)
