The decision to switch from SLA to Lithium-iron-phosphate battery chemistry was easy as LiFePO4 batteries cost about the same as SLA batteries but are much lighter and last much longer than SLA batteries. My UPS is over ten years old and, at the time I purchased it, SLA batteries were considered the battery of choice. If purchased today, it’s highly likely the battery would be LiFePO4 technology. LiFePO4 batteries are easily confused with Li-ion batteries commonly used with portable power tools. LiFePO4 batteries are more reliable, have longer lifespans, and are safer than Li-ion batteries. The battery easily fits into the same space as the SLA battery it replaced.
