Review: Great product I don't know how the do it. - I had to drill a couple new holes but no big deal you can't even see the old ones. The tail piece is absolutely an excellent product and priced way below other competitors. The finish is beautiful and it has made a difference in the sustain on my mando. If you're looking for a cast tail piece I highly recommend this one. Stringing my mando is much easier now as well.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: will it handle ball end strings as well as loop end?**
A: I haven't tried it, but I doubt ball-end will work. You can use side cutters to remove the ball end, which leaves a loop to affix to the pegs.

**Q: does this tailpiece come with a cover?**
A: No that’s the way it comes just like you see it. It’s a beautiful tail piece and looks great and adds sustain. I’ve had mine on my mandolin for at least a couple years now maybe more. I like it!

**Q: i need a replacement tailpiece for a Michael Kelly firefly mandolin. could you send me mounting hole spacing for your tailpieces? i don't want to redr**
A: From where the tailpiece contacts the soundboard the center mounting hole is 3.5 cm down, the two top holes are 1.5 cm down from the sound board and 2 cm  apart. This is a pretty tailpiece but be aware it is cast at a steep angle, which I had to bend to get the correct angle to the bridge. I did break one trying to get the angle adjusted.

This is a high quality tailpiece at a very attractive price. The problem, however, is the tailpiece appears to be designed for an arch top mandolin and not a flat top mandolin. The angle of two facets of the casted piece are at considerably greater than 90 degrees. The description does not make this clear. Also, the screw hole pattern will likely not match your existing instrument thus requiring new holes to be drilled. If you plan on using this on a flat top mandolin, check your existing tail piece and you'll see that a replacement requires a 90 degree angle.
