I tried to bleach one of mine and nothing happened so it's probably synthetic material. You could try a Rit DyeMore color and see if that works.

Is this scarf too large to use as part of a gypsy costume? I wpuld be wrapping it around the hips.

It's large, but you could probably make it work. It's also a really nice scarf for the price so even if it didn't, you have a nice scarf!

Definitely not, This is nothing like linen, clearly synthetic. That being said it's a good beach wrap etc. It folds up small and doesn't wrinkle.
